Thinking of buying a 2004 rx8 manual transmission
Found a 2004 rx8 6 speed transmission. For $4000.00 at a used car lot is it a good deal? Am I asking for problems. Need some advice. I never had a car like this.

Rotary-specific compression test. Don't just take it to your corner mechanic and pay them to do a normal piston engine compression test.
Take the car to a rotary specialist or a Mazda dealer to have it done.
I value an '8 that doesn't have a recent rotary-specific compression test the same as an '8 with its engine completely missing.

These guys have covered the basics to be honest. See if the dealer will provide a Carfax and see if you can find out any history on the car from the Mazda dealer. They can run the vin and will be able to tell you all of the warranty repair that were performed during the car's life, and can tell you if and when the engine were replaced.
