Can somone tell me what this sensor is

I am assuming it is just a ground but these cars are new to me.
Its right above the spark plug.

It was melted to the point it actually prevented me from pulling the plug out also could it stop the car from starting.

Ok i figured it out. Its what is left of the knock sensor hahaha

You're correct, that's the knock sensor.
