Was having a bit of oil seap around the front crank seal, and I did not want to tackle the job in my carport, with no helper, and no lift. So I got a bottle of this stuff that had been returned at work, and couldn't be resold due to having the old label.

I want to say I was also having intermittent cold start oil smoke for about 30 seconds on occasion. So possibly failing oil control seal? Not sure. Just 100% about front oil seal leaking.

Well I added a bottle of this to my oil, and topped it off. Now after driving 2 full tanks of gas the oil level is staying more steady and the cold start smoking is completely gone. I am not saying this stuff is a miracle cure-all. But I will say I put one bottle in Miata when I got it, and never had a problem with oil pressure, gumming, or residue. It did what it was supposed to unlike oil leak additives that are 90% heavy base stocks and nothing special.

Sounds sketchy, possibly temporary. What does it actually do to stop the leak? Depending on the method, I can see this wreaking havoc on your omp.

 

According to the manufactures it uses polymers to swell oil seals.

This is probably the only one we keep in stock that does not use any heavy heavy base stock. This stuff is a fairly light liquid. And 6 oz bottle is 14.99, where as the 12-20 oz bottles of the stuff with heavy base stock (think similar to lucas oil stabilizer) are usually half the price.

It's been closer to 800 miles now, no new leaks. Car is running great.

 

Products like that work by attacking the seal material, causing it to swell. You can get a temporary one-time fix. It won't work again if (more likely when) the leak re-appears. And, of course, seals that were not leaking in the first place also get attacked.

If it comes back, call around to a few dealers. It used to be a int to get that seal changed, Mazda has a new tool that really lowers the price. I did mine and a friends in an afternoon with helpers, but that was against a $1,200 quote for repair.

This is a DIY here that helped a great deal. But, it is a 2 person job without that tool.

 

Just google the product if you have doubts. I did so I figured I would try it.

If you decide to use it just be aware it could a waste of time as the product has a money back guarantee.

Beyond that I will report back with any updates periodically.

 

If you Google it, you'll find lots of testimonials that are either planted by the manufacturer or written by users in the glow of the temporary fix.

A $15 refund means nothing if the stuff does damage along the way.

No not really. Working well for me. If I have any failures related to it you can be sure I will let people know. Just trying to keep the car running as my truck gets no better gas mileage and isn't as comfortable to ride in.

Working on a v8 swap. But my bills are more important than a car project.

Just kidding, yes I own controlling stock in Blue Devil, and hope that internet posts on a fairly vacant forum for a niche market vehicle will increase my margins so I can retire next week.

 

This rear main sealer does not work at all! I should've know by googling it, the only people who says it does are blue devil themselves and a couple of people that's sponsored or paid promotions. No one ever shows the results on YouTube. (Go look for yourself)
I bought it almost a week ago a you guessed it, still leaking oil! Best to just take the tranny off and replace.

After a week oil is still dripping on tranny lines and exhaust when driving <br/>#smokemachine🚕😷

 

Still drips on ground when in park <br/>#excuse flat tire...it just wasnt my day
