Automatic conversion

It should be possible, but the electronic gremlins are going to get you.

The PCM, ABS, immobilizer and TCM (transmission control module) all need to communicate. I don't think the PCM you have will talk to a TCM. Your best option is to import all the modules (computers) from the same car. You will also need the keys that are paired to the immobilizer.

You will also need a custom tune because the injector staging will be different. (Six instead of four).

I did the opposite (auto to manual) and I'm still finding issues.

Good luck

You will want a PCM out of a 2007+ automatic, and even then it will not be able to fully operate a 231 6-port. The earlier automatics use a 4 port motor dissimilar from the 6 port you have now. In fact, it might be easier to replace the motor with one from an automatic as well.

Look, at that point you may as well just drive the automatic car and skip the hassle.

Make sure the engine is good. Very cheap RX-8s are usually very cheap for a reason.

Just curious, why can't you drive a MT? Do you have a physical condition that prevents you to?

Converting tranny is no cakewalk. Even for a late 90s Accord it will be a lot of work, not to mention an RX-8. You also won't have much resource since most people convert AT to MT, not the other way around.

Honestly, unless you really know what you are doing, just get an AT RX-8 or learn how to drive a stick, both of which will be cheaper and easier.
