another one dies when hot Thread and what is up with RENESIS engines.

Hi guys so im godt a few threads in here about my new rallycar 2005 rx-8 192 hp mith 5 speed manual.
So i have been rallying my sa22 for 3 years and finding this rx-8 engine wierd.

1 question
engine has only 40000 miles
when i got the car the front bearing was broke, i replaced it and started up the engine. everything sounds fine revs fine , however when it gets to working temprature the engine dies and will not fire up again. it can be pushed to start but wil not hold idle and does not have the power it should.
things that are brand new:
coils,
Wires
plugs
oil
gas
i have done the compression test and it was not good only 5 bar at 250 rpm.
the MAF is ok.
I know that the compression is not good but i can not believe that this alone should cause the engine to stall when at working temp its just to consistent it will warm up then die cool down 20 minutes then fire up but not as good as when cold.. i believe there must be another problem , maybe somekind of sensor, maybe the fuelpump?.
Please any good advice. i need the engine to run for about 3 hours to pas MOT then the engine will be pulled and rebuild with porting, exhaust etc. this is all due to some crasy danish rules about rallycars.

2 question
the older 13 engines have good strong compression until they brake a apex seals ore something like that they will run very reliable and for several houndred thousand miles. But it seems the renesis engines gets weak compression in only like 80000 miles why is that.
And why should the side seals be replaced and irons laped at rebuild when thats not normal on the older engines?.

i have spend a few hours reading threads about the engines issue and i se the same answers but most of the threads end up with engine rebuild but the problem comes back again.
Im Danish english is not my first language that makes it even harder to search so sorry in advance if its easy to search the answers ore there is any misspelling.

best regards Rasmus Andersen

Bonus question but not the most important but i need 4 port porting templates does anyone have that.

Classic low compression issues, you need a rebuild.

^^ This is probably correct.

Unfortunately with these, the mileage doesn't matter. I know a woman who is on her 3rd engine in an '04, the first lasted 101,000 miles, the second lasted 121,000 miles. Then there's mine.. I'm on my second engine, my first only lasted 35,000 miles. There are many more factors at play than just mileage.

With all of the other things you've replaced, and the low comp, I'd agree you're looking at a rebuild.

i was really hoping for a different answer (:

mostly because i just cant believe an engine running fine will just suddently die when hot i figure ther must be some engine control fault but ther is no trouble codes..

When mine was replaced as having low comp, the only symptoms I had were high rpm flashing CEL light, and slight difficulty starting while warm. But, it just gets worse from there..

Also, it can have low comp and be running fine one day, then the next it won't run at all, that's actually pretty common.

Sorry to be bad news bunnies

They can die for various reasons and from one day to the next. The fact that you had to mess with the front stack when you bought it tells me that the rebuild was probably ****. Even the term "rebuild" is sketchy because what some people consider a proper rebuild is down right scary. Also, forget most of what you learned in dealing with older Rotaries, because the Renesis is vastly different and many builders and others have failed trying to use old rotary logic on the Renesis.

The series I Renesis had a lot of faults by design that cannot not be overcome. That is is just the way it is. My first engine lasted 22k when it died from one day to the next of low compression) , all highway driven and was maintained meticulous. My second was Mazda reman (not very good rep) and lasted 74,000 miles before it too died of low compression out of the blue. My last Mazda reman (installed at 96,000 miles) only lasted 27,000 or so until it died of a faulty coolant seal.

My first and only professionally built engine has over 30,000 on it and has been boosted since day one and still has great compression.

Like every rotary car, the RX-8 is a crap shoot unless you are talking about a low mileage series II RX-8, they are pretty reliable up to 100k.
