android auto

I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience with android auto and could help me solve a problem.

Everything works great, I just want to know how to turn off the ringtone when I get a text message. I tried muting it on the phone but the sound still comes through. My headunit has a separate alerts volume option but all that did was turn off the navigation alerts.

I just get tired of my music being interrupted very loudly, by the text notification ringtone.

Don't text and drive, if you don't reply they won't send you another message? Android phones you can turn the notification off per each app own setting. E.g turned off my Wi-Fi notification email and 8-ball pool notifications from the phone so the Bluetooth doesn't pick those sounds up over the radio. Hope that helps

I never text and drive, the most I will do is have my passenger text for me. And I know I can turn off notifications entirely but then I would have to turn it back on all the time, since I do not want the notifications off all the time. I am just trying to find a way to turn off the ringtone just while I am driving with android auto. Through regular bluetooth it doesn't interrupt with the ringtone, it just vibrates like I want.
