Alternative Advice!

Hey my fellow long time friends at Rx8club! I am sorry to announce that i will be selling my 09 rx8 D: Mostly due to family/insurance/toomuchfun reasons haha Anyways my story is that im going to be selling my rx8 to get a much cheaper car to help pay for bills and extra stuff for my newborn daughter! And also thinking about it, everything that i want to do in my beautiful car is illegal heh, except on the track but its very difficult for me to ever get any track time so im wanting to be a bit more conserative.

As for the alternative part of the question, what else do you awesome people do to have that fun kinda rush that makes you so thrilled and having fun kinda like flying around a corner at 35mph sideways that just gives you the biggest smile everytime you do that thing or something like it? I love driving, accelerating quickly but im also a responsible adult and try not to do that in the streets because again, its highly illegal, dangerous and there is no gain from it. just not worth. But its so fun... im trying to find something fun that isnt illegal like that, plus getting a nice junker car that doesnt nessesarily have the capability to do those things like my 8 does helps :P

Any tips for a young father looking to still have fun yet be responsible at the same time? Another note to add. i WILL be getting another 8 into the future and turning it into a garage project, now just isnt the time for that. Anything you guys can add even if its not really related to the situation is very appreciated Have a good one guys, drive safe!

First and foremost, congratulations on the additional family member. Cars can be replaced; people cannot.

A cheap 1st or 2nd generation (NA, NB) miata is great fun, and can be thrown around at legal speeds (snow/rain make it even easier). I sold my NB for my RX8 and while I love the RX8, I miss the miata - I could run to the redline in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd before I was at supra-legal speeds. While cheap to buy, insure, and maintain, seating capacity generally restricts their application to "second car" status, and therefore more often than not, not a financially viable option.

Perhaps there is a karting track in your area?

Best of luck to you and your daughter.

Thank you poacherinthezoo i appreciate your responce, and yeah i was thinking about some other cars that will allow me to have fun, but not "too" much fun, yet still family oriented. Like an Impreza or even a wrx if my wife will allow it :P she is already sold with the AWD haha lets just say she doesnt like to be sideways very much :D But as for karting, yes there is a go-kart track same place the auto track is. its about an hour away or so unfortunately and ive looked into karting the only thing that isnt fun, is that i cant just "go for a ride/drive" because well...thats illegal too D: Why must everything fun in the world be against the law haha just kidding. Ive looked into some things like dirt biking as well, and that would be pretty well suited for where im living, if only i could convince the wife though haha it would give me a nice headstart into prepping my garage for my project rx8 in the future, and i can stay safe on the road to have fun in the dirt. and i absolutely agree with you on cars can be replaced and people cannot.
