8 won't stay at idle
Okay...so I really need someones help. I recently put a downpayment on a 2004 rx8. Been doing good up untill today. The power steering kept going on and off, so I found the DIY connection cleaner thread. I disconnected the positive terminal, took out the air intake, unplugged and cleaned the two connectors. Put it all back together and now she doesn't want to stay at idle, just keeps dying. I rechecked everything and can't seem to find the problem. The car was also low on gas after i put it all back together, so i took it to the gas station and filled it. Didnt make a difference. HELP PLEASE

It's most likely a missed vacuum hose. Or you didn't plug in the MAF sensor all the way. Either one of those will cause those exact problems. If it's a vac hose the car will learn to live with it but never be happy if it's MAF sensor then it will do it until you get it fixed.
It might just be that you removed the battery wire and it lost all the learned info on the tune. it's not a problem it just takes time. Try cleaning the ESS just for the heck of it. Pull the air box, reach down and wipe it off with a raga and some brake cleaner. That will also give you a chance at looking over all the vac hoses and sensor.
But an aditional note you said you put down a downpayment. I don't know what the overall situation is, but go get a compression test done. IF it doesn't pass well then try your hardest to take it back. A bad engine will easily cost 5000 if you ahve to pay someone to do it.
Have you been through the new owners thread and the 100 dollar fix thread. I'm sure someone around here will post links pretty soon if you have not.
Welcome to the club here, there's ton's of good info. Try to keep questions like this to the dumb questions thread that way it's all stored in one place. Plus a bunch of really helpful people watch it regulary. If you post too many things like this in new threads then people will start fussing. Or just make a single thread for your car and help to keep all your stuff in one place.

You know gwilliams, RIWWP made the thread that contains this information, so he could AVOID reposting it all over. Maybe just a link to it from now on would get the point across.

Gwilliam do you even read these things before you post. Holy crap man he has a specific problem that developed after doing a repair.
