2004 Wiring harness, bad jump

Have RX8, 2004. Professional jumped my car and the cable that was grounded had fire, sparks and smoke coming from it. He said he had never seen this happen before. Blew 15 fuses and I am told, by Mazda Dealership, I need a new under hood fuse box wiring harness for a 2004 RX8.

Has this happened to anyone?

Do I have to replace with a 2004 Wiring harness?

Suggestions on where to purchase please. Dealership cannot find one, pull-a-part yards in town do not have. some on E-Bay but not sure if that is a good place to purchase.

Where was it grounded? Usually the engine hanger is used.

Did you replace the fuses and are there any other issues?

I was in the car when this happened, i believe it was grounded to the engine block. cannon say for sure.

Other issues were they told me I needed a new stereo amplifier but I found that the under dash fuse was blown. and replaced it. I have sound for radio now but cannot get CD player to work, eject etc.

No other troubles except the Dealership told me not to drive my car out of town.

I have a call into them to ask a couple of questions.
What exactly is wrong with my harness and do I have to purchase a 2004 harness. On eBay they have wiring harnesses that they say will work with multiple years of RX8.

2004-2008 should all be the same for the same trim level/engine combination. So if you had a 2004 GT 6-speed, get a harness from the same model, perhaps different year. The dealer should be able to tell if different years are the same part number.

It sounds like someone jumped the car backwards and put negative to positive. That would explain the arcing and smoke.
