recently acquired a new project, got an 04 rx8 that seems to have transmission/computer issues
Seems to start and run/drive just fine when cold, however when it warms up it pretty much just stops moving, doesnt matter what gear etc it just stops going all together

only CEL is p0610 and everything ive found about it seems to be far from the symptoms its having.

My buddy i got it from is pretty sure its just the transmission but im not sold, anything specifically to look into?

only other info i have that might be useful is were pretty sure its a winter storm wreck car, the hood and driver fender have been replaced and it still needs a new bumper cover, no frame damage or suspension damage at all, looks a lot like it hopped a median and slid into a taller rig at slow speeds

 

If the engine is turning but the wheels aren't, logically the problem is the trans. Possible it's low on fluid? What do all gears have in common ? Fluid, torque convertor, diff.

 

A blocked filter in the transmission will have similar symptoms, when sitting for a while the debris will fall away from the filter allowing it run, but after a short while the filter will clog up with the car running, you will get loss of hydraulic pressure and no drive.

What does the fluid look like?
