Good luck man! I don't know about NY, but MD is pretty good at snow removal. Hopefully you guys are just the same and not like PA. No offense PA, but ya'lls snow removal sucks!

here's pics from outside my house, i had to go to work today it was awful out there, but i also have pics of the noble steed that got me there and back, (and fast too)

btw just got home 10 minutes ago, already a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch of snow on the car.

My area is pretty good with snow removal, so I expect it to be relatively cleared by tomorrow (assuming it isn't continuing to snow tomorrow).

I gotta break out the shovel tomorrow :(

Would this be the noble steed?

Feras 12-19-2009 03:32 PM

indeed sir...AWD 265hp and snow tires = winter win. shockingly better with the traction control turned off.

xun4gvn4everx 12-19-2009 03:35 PM

^ Nice! Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound

klanham08 12-19-2009 04:35 PM

The street I live on has AT LEAST 9-10 inches of snow on it right now, and it is still coming down strong!

I've been outside 3 times today to let my car get warm, clean as much of the snow/ice off as I can, and clear the snow around it lol.

CTrx8 12-19-2009 04:46 PM

still waiting on it here but it's about 2 hours from coming down pretty hard.

I'll try digging my WWP out tomorrow after they plow the development. It is still coming down steady here.

Feras 12-19-2009 05:29 PM

i think earl's pic is the winner...that car is gone.

Roxie8 12-19-2009 05:38 PM

Lol the cars are almost covered it looks like. All you see is the snow piled on top of the side mirrors.

Shoveled once, buried again. The lump behind the van is the -8, sleeping under cover.

Floundered to the front yard, took about eight snow depth measures across the open area.

19" average. :wallbash:

Yea, the weather is wierd. It's pissing us heavy resort fanatics off since the south is getting more snow while the north is getting nadda, capital W T F. Makes no sense, Jersey getting over 12", MD, even where I'm at in CT, but nadda for upper NY or VT, lol. Wierd storm.

Just took this pic. Forgot to get one before the neighborhood kids came by to shovel.

Still coming down right now, but supposed to end within an hour or so, radar looks like it's ending. I don't have to go anywhere for another week anyway...:)

This is out our side window. that is a standard 6ft wooden fence, that black thing is a 4ft long roll of old tar paper. Kinda cheating a bit, cause the wind is piling it up all along the side of the house (40ft x 10ft), but still...

Oh the joys of NYC street parking. The plows were thrashing the car with snow all night long, I hope the paint is okay, I was too scared to take a look.

HockeyRX-8 12-20-2009 04:22 PM

i hope you paint is okay rot8te...you need to invest in a car cover...

9krpmrx8 12-20-2009 07:18 PM

Wow, R3 parked on NYC streets? Makes me cringe.

JinDesu 12-20-2009 07:37 PM

riwwp, that's a very square block of snow on ur 8 lol

I shoveled my driveway out today (with no intentions of going out anymore), only to realize that a big van was blocking half of the driveway

....and was surrounded by 4 feet of snow. I don't think I'll be going out anytime soon.

Yeah, next time I HAVE to leave is next Saturday, although I think I will need to clean off that block of snow to replace my coils when they arrive :) Another 2 inches after that pic, but doesn't show up on the camera.

We got some wierd wind patterns around my house, does sculptures like that alot. Causes problems with near freezing temps, because somehow it puts my driveway a few degrees colder, and my cars will be covered in frozen dew, and the rest of the cars on the street are just liquid dew, if not dry altogether. Drives me nuts sometimes.

I took a few more angles of the block of snow to show the shape the wind made...

Excuse the quality, 9:30 at night, only light is the porch light and the street light, not the best picture conditions :)

Thanks for the kind sentiment. I'm hoping it's fine, I guess it's just frozen water after all. I'm just worried that snow had rocks and what not in it and was then thrashed on the side of my car. Then again the car only took a beating once or twice, then the snow started to build on top of itself.

You and me both. Thankfully, my apartment is in a really safe area. Usually a 2009 Audi TT parked right in front of me. However, this does little to comfort me. Next year I'll be in Manhattan paying out the ass for garage parking, but at least I'll sleep at night. There are simply no garages in my area right now, or else I'd be in one. My attitude is I can enjoy the car and accept a ding and a scratch as a reality of urban life and have them fixed in due course, or I can leave it at my parents house on Long Island and enjoy it a few times a year, spending the rest of my time miserable on the subway.

Believe me, I go all out with the detailing, clay baring, etc. But I have no other option than to street park, although I should invest in a cover, my fear being that it makes my car even more of a target, covered on the street that is.

altspace 12-21-2009 08:34 AM

on top of it?

I was seriously tempted to take it out late last night for some fun, but decided it wouldn't be prudent with a quickly failing ignition system and it's actually unpleasant to drive right now (~9mpg, massive loss in power, misfires constantly, can't go WOT, etc... fresh plugs are in, coils will be here this week)
