hey carbon maybe you can lend me a hand, I've been misfiring at redline in 3rd gear and up, from what I've gathered its gonna be either my coils, MAF sensor or bad compression i have an 06 with 31k miles on it. i just can't figure out why its only at redline in 3rd and up 1st and 2nd i have no issues at all

 

Misfires are always more common in high rpm/ high load. I'd suggest start with the easy stuff first. Plugs, coils, clean Maf, check compression. I'll be back home in the middle of June if you need a hand. Depends on how much of a priority it is for you. Start with the small stuff first.

 

gotcha thanks, and its not super high on my list obv i want to get it done before serious harm, but i still have a warranty left on the engine need to take care of some other bills and such first thanks for the help.

 

Is the CEL light flashing. If its under warranty take it to south town Mazda. The service writer there is an idiot but ask for Dawn, she's the manager or Bill (there's two you want the older on) he's there rx8 specialist and is the only one I ever let touch any of my cars. Tell them Ryan Power refered you, and you should be good to go my friend.

nice, and ill set something up soon there then, i used to take my old rx8 to northtown but i cant stand the people there so id much rather go out of my way to people that are actually competent, and yea it is flashing, thats how i instantly knew i was a misfire.

 

Ya I have a problem with my power steering and I went to the counter and the guy was like I can give you a pump??? I was like uhhh it's electrical dude... They're not the brightest up there

 

I know, I learned south town was the only place to go back when I had my speed 6 some 5 years ago lol. By now they know me and never question my diagnosis, the parts guy has also become dependent on me providing him with the correct Mazda p/n after he charged me an extra grand for the wrong transmission after I told him which one to order

Wish I was going, judges at that show for the tuner category love 8's they pick one to win almost every year. Last year a basically stock GT took 2nd place

 

i actaully have a group of friends going, I on the other hand am not, the life of trashing hotels and slips in slides in hall ways is behind me now haha

 

I always say next year, then I get tied up in a project and never finish in time. Shows are taking a back seat this year, I'm planning a lot of seat time on various tracks in the area instead.
