WARNING FOR ALL 8 Drivers

WARNING FOR ALL 8 Drivers
This is something I heard on the radio and I got confirmed from a friend who works for the state traffic commitee... So whoever already lives in NJ,NY,CT,DE,MD or people who are visiting from out of state beware! This is no joke so becareful out there guys and girls and God Bless.... (already posted in the RX-8 Discussion forum)
NJ is starting up a 30 day speeding ticket rally. From what I hear,
every trooper assigned to this has to hand out 1 ticket every 10 to 20
minutes. They will be focusing in around this area so watch out.
Here's what a New Jersey State trooper sent:
Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket
frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in
speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime.
There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main
intersections and highways. They are the following:
I-295 north and south
1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south
1-80 east and west
I-287 north and south
I-78 east and west
1-195 east and west
1-280 east and west
Rt. 130 north and south
Garden State Parkway north and south
I'm warning everyone now that 5 mph above the limit can justify a
ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write
a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked
Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on
full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT you will probably take one of
these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock
you.
101.5 FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding
tickets are on you. You've been warned."
Then the same friend, emailed me the following:
Driving Ticket fine increase in NJ:
Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of NJ
Law39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or
insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to
$173.00. Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in
them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet
with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just
spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!
Forward to people in NJ, and let them know of this change. And be
careful, the fine for hand held cell phone use while driving will be
going up to $180.00.

He's as bad as Can
FYI I have seen NJ troopers drive unmarked Dodge Durangos as well as the Crown Vic's with hubcaps. I drive during rush hour where you can do 75-80 so I don't need to worry. It's the other times of the day you need to watch for. Funny how in rush hour you can do 80 bumper to bumper but 69 at 9 pm gets you a ticket.

I didn't get an email, but I heard this exact same thing from a friend whose brother-in-law is a NJ cop. Doesn't hurt to hang back a little to see if it's true. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to afford a ticket doing 80 in a 65.

Whether or not this is true I just feel like bitching about. It pisses me off to no end how obvious it is that speeding tickets are more about revenue income than people safety. The fine is outragous and then you have to deal with the points which screw you over for what like 5 years. All because you were doing 10mph over the limit at 11pm at night on a 4 lane interstate with no one else around. End rant.

I'm not sure if this is a good confirmation, but I was driving on the Garden state parkway to go meet my girlfriend, and in the median I saw 2 cops one facing each direction..... and then as I went down maybe 1 mile there was another cop sitting beside one of the trees!! I was saying like WTF.... as I was coming back from having lunch with my girlfriend... this time there was 1 unmarked cop car and it was just sitting there.... idk maybe its just a freak coincidence.... just becareful out there guys, pretty sure they would love to target a sports car...I would never try to give you guys bad info, just trying to be a good member/fellow driver!

i got pulled over going 6 mph over the speed limit at 11:45 pm on palisades parkway giving a ride to my friend to the hospital (no major injuries but some cuts and bruises) who got into an accident with her g35 at bear mtn... the cop was a real *** even tho he saw her all cut up. i went to court to fight it with the accident report and hospital paperwork, judge just looked at me and gave me the full charges and went on with the next summons.
another time in ridgefield park... i started my car and drove literally no more than 70 yards (about 5 houses) and a detective cop pulled me over. at the time i had a b&b exhaust with rp midpipe (it was LOUD) and i was going exactly 29 mph on a 25 and he gave me a ticket for 55 on a 25. that blew my mind away... he didn't even have a radar but he curses at me saying he was pacing me and that he was going 55 and i was pulling away??? i told him i have a digital speedometer and that i JUST shifted to 2nd gear and was about to brake cuz there was a stop sign like 30 more yards in front of me... but he claims i was "burning rubber driving like an idiot" i did not need that outrageous accusation but more so, that insult.. i went to court, they lowered it to 54 on a 25 so that i get 4 points instead of 5. wow thanks!!!!!! (sarcasm)
switched out the b&b catback right away and got the greddy... sigh~

If we're giving out warnings here, I might as well throw mine up, even if it's only for Montgomery County in MD. For every 50 seatbelt tickets or citations a cop hands out this summer, they get 8 extra hours of leave. Just thought I'd toss that out for anyone living in the area. I intern with them and it's a big deal for some of these guys who want more time off to spend with families.
