FYI:

Here are your options for contesting your ticket.

Hire a lawyer:
You could hire a lawyer to defend you, but at $200 per hour, this is usually not cost effective. Few California lawyers study the vehicle code since almost nobody is willing to pay standard lawyers fees to defend them against a traffic ticket.

Appear in court:
Appear in court to plead "not guilty" and then appear again on your trial date to point out a police officer's incompetence before an impatient judge in a crowded room. Not only will you have to endure public speaking in front of an unfriendly, judgemental crowd, you also miss two days pay (which is probably more than your total fine).

Option three: the best option:
Contest your citation by completing a Written Not Guilty Plea and Trial by Written Declaration. You stand a decent chance of winning and you will be able to fight your ticket without any court appearances. Devise your plan of attack here:http://www.ticketassassin.com/fight.html.

If you lose your case, request traffic school from the judge to keep your DMV record clean (and your insurance rates reasonable). Here is some advice on traffic school from the Ticket Assassin.

i always win when i go to court. i was doing 65mph in a 30. the cop was a rookie and i bullshitted right in front of the rookie cop. cuz the judge was ripping him up cuz he couldnt understand where he was located soi took my oppertunity and said i was going in the opposite direction.

The cops jaw dropped and he couldnt beleive it. I got away with it.

All my speeding tickets so far i got away with and other ones as well. I got a ticket for "not having a seatbelt" when i was wearing the seatbelt and i told the lady officer are you BLIND.

She was like i was looking for the reflective surface of the seatbelt.

I said WHAT, its a flat black seatbelt what reflectiveness are you looking for .

She took my info and i got out the car and she went on the loud speaker "GETBACK IN YOUR CAR NOW"

I weas yelling at her.

Next thing i see is a pattywagon with 6 unis inside. Telling me to calm down and relax before theres a problem.

I obliged.

I dont care bout the traffic cops in the city i be shitting on them all the time.

I even broke out on a cop on 32nd street, in those little 3 wheeled vehicles (Interceptors) .

Broke out and ate 2 lights on 5th avenue lol.

I guess he never reported that he got herbed cuz the police station was 3 blocks over.

Ahhhhh, i dont care anymore i do my thing and speed. This entire summer i went out every night or other night on GCP, LIE, BQE, Souther State, Cross ISland doing 120mph every night and didnt get bagged.

Did 131mph the other night when we was in LI at this ricer gathering!

Good luck kid.

Fight the ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha easy killer, but thats pretty funny.
Btw getting caught on the lie or gcp on the queens side is rough, only because there isnt much room for cops to hide and bag you with, once u get to the LI side your fuked.
Where in Queens are you from?
Bayside here...

Im in east elmhurst mad close to La Guardia Aiport. Hit me up and we can link up. I always go on nightime cruises all over NYC. Depending on how deep my pockets are and what i got to do the next day dictates my distance.

The best u will probably get is no points. I will be surprised if they drop the ticket. I rarely see a legit ticket get dropped. The fine may be high though cause of the no points.

Sometimes its better to pay extra to avoid getting the points....THe points will leave a residual mark on your license the ticket wont leave such a bad mark

Yea that's what I'm hoping for. My dad is paying twevle thousand a year for my mom's 06' altime, his 99' corolla and my 8 (My older brother has 66points and his license is suspended for more then 6 1/2 years. Yea 66 points). Plus I have some points too. So we won't mind paying a higher fine as long as no points are put on insurance.

I got nailed for 80 in a 65 in jersey back in 2003. I was supposed to get 4 points, but prosecutor dropped the points pending on the completion of a defensive driver course. I took the class, showed the certificate to the judge..they said they took the points off. but my insurance company still got reported. My three years are up! I'm finally going to stop paying for it. 80 in a 65 on 287 north at 11pm and night...gimme a ****** break. ****** local cops just care about REVENUE!

Unfortunately that's a California centric site, anyone know a good NY state site?

I also have a ticket to fight.
