NY is there a noob intro section..i looked

Anyway, I registered a little while back when I got my 04 gray base rx-8......thanks to my ignorance,,,,,it was totaled.

I just picked an 04 yellow gran touring (I think....navi, leather, heated seats, moonroof, bose audio etc..
This time around Im learning from the masters....Im from queens NY. pLAN TO DO SOME MAJOR SEARCHING. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING TO DO!!! i KNOW IT SUNDS STUPID BUT CHANGE THE OIL? i READ SOMEWHERE HERE THAT SINCE ILL BE ADDING OIL EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE...MAYBE i SHOLD DO THAT..sECOND THING. mAYBE CALL TO SEE IF ALL RECALLS WHERE DONE. i KNOW THE CLUTCH AND A COUPLE MORE THINGS WERE CHANGED AT THE MAZDA DEALER BUT AS FAR AS I know it looks new inside..still had the original plastic on the carpet!!! Im pretty excited but i still have a lot to learn...
Current cars, c008 civic exl, 2008 crv and an 09 eclipse....but there is something aabout this car that makes me feel like a modding nut. Dont know much about rotary engines so I ll be checking for advice. Im proud to belong to what it looks like a forum where you can get some great info..........Thanks

Noob..from NY

You didn't mention mileage. You may want to inspect the plugs and coils and the condition of the plug wires as their life span is pretty short on this car (~30k or so on average). After a good run take a look at you cat around the O2 sensor and make sure it isn't glowing (=clogged cat). Of course an oil change is always a good thing .

Welcome back!

I live in NYC and can recommend Wayne Mazda in NJ, about a 20 minute drive from the GW Bridge. I believe they are (or certainly were) the largest Mazda dealer in the country, with the largest Mazda service department. Since, until a few years ago, they only sold Mazda, their tech guys work on more RX-8s than probably anyone:
