Anticipating checking everyones car out, and looks like we'll be using a lot of brake fluid! I'll be emailing or PMing directions to all attending probably over the weekend or whenever you sign in. If you're not sure, sign up for directions anyway, just in case you are able to come at the last minute.

Don't be shy, if you have any mechanical projects to do, something to install, we'll have likely any tool needed, not to mention some of the best RX-8 minds this side of Boston to assist in the work.

My driveway can easily accommodate perhaps a dozen RX-8s, much of it's flat as a pancake, plus two garages, so there will be no shortage of room for cars.

I've done most of what I need for NIHS (see www.spin9k.com), but am looking to getting the fog light rewire done, plus lending a hand to anyone in need of assistance. Plus I'll have several Camcorder spinMOUNTS there ready to install for those with a camcorder and wanting & willing to participate in the beta test on track at NIHS or elsewhere this Spring. If we could get 4 or 5 cars videoing each other at HIHS...now that would be an event DVD worth watching :D

Everyone's wecome even if it's only to watch, no need to do work on your car, just come to help out and learn, talk, discuss all things 8. Some may be early people (like me), some are not, so I'll have coffee & donuts / eggs, toast and PB & J, whatever, etc for the morning people anytime 7am on.

Then work, work, work, then later there'll be a barbacue of dogs and hamburgers. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage or anything else (chips/cookies come to mind) followed by more time on the cars and/or swapping stories, etc.

I've got a powerwasher so it also might be a good time to get some of the accumulated grime off your car for the coming season and get it all shined up. Bring your favorite polish and there's surely be loving hands to help make it shine in quick order.

Hope to see you all there, esp those 8's from around the Boston area that we don't see enough of!

We will also be changing the diff and tranny fluids on 4-5 cars including my own. I'll be bringing my tools, jack, and stands. It would also help if other people could do the same, so that we can work on the cars simultaneously. A catch pan for the fluids would be nice too.

My to do list:
Install track pads
Bleed brakes and clutch w/ ATE Super Blue
Replace tranny/diff fluid with Redline
Install SpinMOUNT
Wash car (Zaino is going to have to wait until another day)

Spin9k has a PS2, GT4 and a LogiTech wheel. I'll bring up a second wheel so we can have some head-to-head fun.

This is great! I was considering buying the Logitech wheel but am hesitant because I don't know if it's worth it. Now I can test drive it!

OMG - Worth it? It is awesome! You'll see, GT4 makes the wheel come alive like the real thing...it's all in the prgramming (naturally).:D

UPS delivered two large boxes tonight. They were packed full with bottles of brake, differential, and tranny fluids. I should get the goods from Trussville some time in the middle of next week. I think that I'm going to need to rent a U-haul to bring all of this stuff up to Portsmouth. :p

So how are you guys making out with your orders for the SpeedBleeders?

I'm hoping to make it up for this (but that weekend may not pan out). If so, I can bring some tools, floor jack, ramps, etc. Will post again next week...

I'm in. Will be doing my diff/tranny fluid (thanks Speed Racer for ordering an extra set!) I'm gonna drop my family off at relatives on the way, so I probably won't be able to bring the ramps or floor jack (not sure how much room I'll have in the trunk for tools). I'll at least have a couple jack stands, breaker bar, torque wrench, and 21mm socket.

Anything else I should bring?

Looking forward to it.

What the hell, I'm in. Not planning anything for my car but could give anyone who needs a hand some help. I haven't seem more then 2 8's at a time and I'm sure I could learn a few things.

Is it warm enough to paint calipers?

Why's everyone changing diff/tranny fluids?

"G2 PaintSystem has a shelf life of six months and must be used between 56-70°F (13-21°C). Higher temperatures will cause paint to harden faster than normal." ...according to http://www.g2usa.com/bcps-inst.shtml so about this time of year sounds just about ideal. We can always cool the paint if it gets too hot.

I'm changing fluids as apparently w/this brand, legend has it that shifting is smoother, and as for the dif, I guess 'why not?' comes into play. Anyone that's done it have any of their own observations? Also several of us are going to track at NIHS on the 27th.

Looking forward to meeting you rodrigo67 , see you on Sunday.

Deslock,

Another set of jack stands, torque wrench and 21mm socket is plenty.

rodrigo67,
The shifting is noticeably smoother with the synthetic gear oil. When I had my 30k mile service the dealership switched me back to normal gear oil and I plan to remedy this next weekend. It is also supposed to provide better protection.

Spin9k,
Can you PM directions to everyone on the list?

Well guys, the Racing Beat REVi is intalled on my 8. I have to say that I love the design of the box. It also brings to light just how crappy the VFAD is. I can't say that I'm feeling any crazy gains but there is definitely more grunt and you can pass better in 6th gear on the highway. Stay tuned as I am still working on getting everything tuned properly with the CZ. Once that is done I expect there to be a very noticable difference.

Pics of the install will go up sometime in the next day or two. It will also be on display during the tech day. People are welcome to take test drives to see the difference between stock and REVi + BB Exhaust + CZ 1.1. A small deposit will be required :p

Thanks to Speed Racer and my10ae for the install assistance!

RPIRX-8:

Not a problem. Now you can help me do up my brakes on the Miata this coming Sunday. Also for a plus, you got to see my new humble abode. :D

The REVi intake is pretty sweet and I'm sure that RPIRX-8 will be happy with it. Now if we could just talk him into getting a room we wouldn't have to see how much he loves it. :p

Yesterday we were talking about meeting up in Manchester at 7am and then caravaning up to Spin9k's place in Portsmouth. Anyone else want to tag along?

Hmm... 7am... I guess I'm up for it. I have to get used to getting up early on Sundays anyway with all this activity and autocrossing I'm planning to do this year...
