Starting Complete NA build
3 Attachment(s)
Hello everybody on the N.E. Just started the new project. Below you will see today's dyno with baseline and intake and then the addition of the RB 3' exaust. WhY? am i doing this. to show the true horspower gains. and yes i really did get 14 horspower out of the RB exaust.
I am building full NA for now to see how far i can push the motor so i want to keep u guys in the loop. My full race headers and arive tomorow still waiting on RX7 store highlfow cat 3' pipe. and pully's PS. also this is a dyno dynamics that reads always 15% lower then dynojet as we all know. so it is more like actually 190 to the wheels. |
And sorry forgot to tell u guys the intake system is also the RB. intake
|
Good luck rx8na. I'm interested to see how this works out. Are you sticking with bolt-ons or is this a full-out project?
|
Thanks for this rx8na. My "bottom dyno" said Roxy was faster after adding the revi intake and RB catback exhaust, but even RB claims it as being only 1-4 hp gain so I just wrote it off to wishful thinking.
So what is next? Keep up the good work, Lynn |

So what is next? Keep up the good work, Lynn Yeah. that was actually why i orginally got the RB. I wanted real world numbers and quality. but surely they were being conservitive. you got just love RB. The only exhaust on the market i think that even come close (and this is with lots of research and real life viewing) was the Jic titan. but it is dumb loud. my RB is a nice rumble and thats it. so if u consider how loud it will be with the 3' mid and then headers. this is the best fit. unless u want insane loud. |
New updates on build

new updates on build. new picks of RX* store 3' highflow cat pipe with
full race headers or exhaust manifold which ever lingo u prefer. |
The Agency power pulley still not hear. and the gready oil pan is still to be shipped. for some reason. mmm
|
finally headers and mid pipe on car

Well very interesting install. had to end up grinding down. the exhaust manifold to make it fit. so much for a thousand dollars:spank: took 5 hours to put on the headers and highflow cat. now car is loud as sin sounds like gt race car. putting a resonator on it this weak to help witht the noise.
|
Very cool!

who makes the manifold?

Why did the headers not fit correctly? Where did you have to grind metal?
|
Looking at your base line dyno, it looks like you have something wrong with your motor to start with. Check my DynoDynamics pulls in the cumulative dyno sticky. My pulls were all in the mid 180s with the best at 186. My car is completely stock, yours should be closer to that to start with. Granted, I got lucky and mine was the best rx8 stock pull I've seen on that dyno, but even still that number seems very low. If you haven't already, get your compression checked, get fresh plugs and coils and go from there. Mine was dog ass slow prior to getting the ignition squared away with new plugs and coils from the dealer.
Edit, upon closer inspection of your graph, it looks abnormal when compared to that of a healthy 8. While there are little sags at consistent intervals, the wobbliness near the peak looks like something squirrely with the ignition. Probably a burned up coil. |

Well i am going to have it checked out today. to check for exhauste leaks for the new headers and mid. i will check the ingnition but car runs fine. and i have seen a lot of low dynos with this car i dont realy know why. i am thinking we did not pull the fuse for DSC instead we just turned it off. maybe that was why. ??? |
You need some wideband O2 data as well. The Renesis runs fairly rich stock. Some of that, I think, is to lower full throttle EGTs to not blow torch the Cat. People have netted some decent NA gains with retunes.
|
With all my NA mods and a lightly tuned CZ, I netted +21 RWHP total. I have since pulled the CZ in hopes for either the RB flash or the Cobb unit to come out. With the RB flash out, I do not see spending the money on it, if the Cobb will do the same thing. Hell, the RB flash will most likely be in the public domain soon after the first Cobb unit nabs it and it goes on the Internet for download.

Also, Nemesis, did you find that as the pcm "learned" around the CZ, that the performance diminished. I never like the idea of a piggy back + learning PCM as the PCM will try to compensate for the CZ. I was going to go RB, but I'm holding out now for the AccessPort. EDIT: Didn't see the printout pic, the second pull or whatever the blue line is looked alot better and more inline with the graphis I've seen. The screen shot looked iffy though. Don't know what the deal with the difference is. |
the consistent dips in the hp graph are normal.
3500, 5500, 6250, and 7300 are all spots where things r changing in the intake manifold so u will see the car adjust....we all kno what ports/injectors/valves are opening so theres no need for me to tell of them here.... the high rpm weirdness, ignition, compression? who knows....but if it idles fine its prolly not the compression.... edit, u had the dsc on? hold that button for 7 seconds man, completely kill that sucker!!!! good luck with the build man! im sure ull be ok, but it seems like ur spendin a decent amount of money for this project.....but if u got the money...who cares! ya only live once! have a blast doin it!!!! |

Thanks yeah. i see alot of dynos with the same dips. i am thinking just the ecu doing some funny stuff. car runs fine. ideals fine. and holds all the way through. or is compression on these motors much harder to read then regular. I am worried but i have to take it someware else beside my dealer cause if the compression is bad i would just rather take the bolt ons of and get a new motor. Does any one know were i can get a accurate compression test done specific to this motor? Thanks. |

I guess it could be TCS kicking on if you had some slippage on the rollers. Like I said, I did all my passes with DSC on (and by association tcs) and had no problems, and all 3 pulls were consistent. That said, if the rollers were slippery for any reason, or perhaps you were in a lower gear, the TCS DSC might be a factor. |
