There was not a fee for crew members last year. FYI last year drivers were required to perform a 'chore' for the event. Expect to be responsible for one of the cones (if someone hits it, you need to bring it back to upright position ready for the next driver) in the course for 30 minutes or so. Crew members do not have to do this though. I think it is enough of a chore for them to sit around for 6 hours watching you drive around cones in a parking lot

Sorry skipped right over this in the midst of a few failed quote posts getting confusing...

"Crew" does not have to pay or have work assignments. Just sign the waver and hang out. Like iemdan said, You, as a driver, get assigned a work duty when you register. They will give the a time and station # 1-3. Work sessions go in 30 min intervals.

Basically you watch the cars go by your station and make sure they are on the proper course and don't knock over any cones. They will go over all the rules and what to watch for before we get started.

Couple things to know: Clean your car out before you leave home. They will make you take everything out. If its not bolted down its gotta come out. Try to know your class before you come. Given your suspension you are probably in STX but double check the SOLO rulebook. It probably wont matter much as a novice tho.

 

Yea I was doing some reading on the site, looks like I need to show up bright and early since i need to register and junk. And no worries, def cleaning the car, removing the battery cover, and engine cover.

I will take a look at the handbook to see what class I am in, thanks for reminding me. Last question for ya if you dont mind, the gf wants to know about amenities, which is her kind way of saying 'where can i go pee' lol.

if it is your first time, they will likely put you in novice. i think you can advance out of novice after you place top of the novice class. what is "SB" 8?

to answer your other question, there are porta potties or they could just drive out to hartford to any restaurant they like (assuming they may come in another car). if i make it, look out for a yellow s1, i've autox'd twice, so you know, im a pro haha.

 

Honestly I dont know. I'm not an expert on classes. I just assume based on the "stx thread" here and looking at the rules.

Ill be there with my gold wheels. You cant miss me. Last week at the members only event there was someone there with a VR R3 identical to mine. He was real nice and friendly. Also has a speed3. Everyone there is very nice. Tons of fun. I'm psyched.

 

Back off topic from all this autox stuff, Is anybody interested in meeting up at the end of the month and going to a meet? Apparently there's a big Subaru event at JNA Performance on the 29th. Its mostly Subaru stuff but the flier says all cars welcome. According to the subie guys its a HUGE lot and has a pretty good turnout each year.

Between ctvtec and ctsubie I'm kinda bummed that us Mazda freaks don't have a local club to meet up and hang out with or roll in a pack to car shows.

 

i would probably be down for that subaru-ish meet. just keep us posted...

 

Today was a lot of fun guys, thanks for all the tips. Managed to get a best time of 36.xxxx seconds during two of the fun runs. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with your numbers next time around.

 

It was tons of fun. I too had my best time of 34.2xx while on fun runs, with the wife in the car. Go figure right. It was nice meeting you guys.
