MazdaManiac flew out to speed1 a few years back and tuned a bunch of rx8s at Speed1. I had asked Speed1 at the time to tune my car and they said that they did not have the pro tuner software to do it but Jeff (MM) did. Are they able to tune now?

I know Omar(NYCdriftking on the forums) has went there recently to get his Petit Sc rx8 dyno tuned on Cobb there recently. I believe before summer he told me.

But I haven't heard from him recently so I can't say really. But I've personally spoke with Dave on a few times related to other issues and he's always on top of his stuff. Really good guy and always helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Speed1 to anyone. Service is always top notch.

That they can tune or that they are a good shop? I've also been looking into having them potentially rebuild and turbo my 8. Would appreciate any insight on their quality

They can do a rebuild but don't be surprised when they charge you more than the estimate.

As for tuning they have neither ATR or MEP.

Dave's not the problem. And FCs / FDs always have good things to say about Speed1.

Again, they have no way to OEM tune RX8s unless you you bring in your personal version of ATR or MEP... And even then be prepared for problems.

Something else to note, Dave won't be around forever and has almost zero control over operations at this point.

If you do run into issues be prepared to have to deal with Medusa.

shell speaks from a lot of experience. another friend of ours took his s/c 8 there to get a few small issues fixed. i ended up fixing his car at my house for free because they didnt but they did have his car for a few weeks and charged him $300 to polish his intercooer/intake pipes lol
