So...I have good news and bad news.
Good news: I bought an STi this past weekend
Bad News: I traded in my RX-8
I knew it would happen eventually. I had an 2004 STi before and it was really my dream car (got rid of it due to buying a house at the time)...also I have way too many Subaru friends so it was kinda like always tempting me in the back of my mind...so anyway, this past weekend I came across an awesome deal on a White 2006 STi and the dealer offered to give me what I owed on my RX-8 that I couldn't pass it up. It was used and has about 7,000 miles on it.
Anyway, It was a very enjoyable experience owning the RX-8 and I am definitely still down with getting together meets for all of us to hang / chat / eat or inviting all of your guys (Fairfax, VA are) to the local Subie meets as well.
Well here she is. I will be trading my silver wheels for gold ones. It will probably happen this weekend...

The engine / power is pretty much the same but handling is better due to some different suspension bits, better aero, and wider wheels & tires.

I think i'm one of the few who actually like the front of the 06's better than previous models. I'm curious, how much did they give you for the trade in and how much do you still owe on this one? The STi is really growing on me.

Yeah, I definitely love the new 2006 front end and the Gold w/White is so freaking hot. I can't wait to get the new wheels. I am considering swapping trunks and going wingless or a getting a WRX spoiler.

I agree. I didn't like it at all when it first came out and pics were first posted on NASIOC but seeing it in person...wow. Much better that I would have thought. I have had all 3 new front ends so far and I think I like 2006+ best, then 2002 / 2003 (Bugeye) and 2004 / 2005 style third.

Thanks. I think it looks pretty sweet. Wingless is awesome too though. More low key...so I don't have cops and Neon SRT-4's on my tail all the time. I am pretty sure it will be an even trade...but IMO I should get some $$$ because of the STi spoiler and thicker trunk spring...but I don't know for sure and no big deal to me.

Are people kidding me? White Japanese racer with Gold or Bronze rims is hot and in my opinion a classic choice.
Congrats on your dream car Joe. She's ugly but I'm sure she's fun to ride! LOL

Congrats! Enjoy the mind-bending torque and the grip. Count me among those who like the 06 front end, and who like the gold rims on the white STi.
The other signigficant changes to the 06 are 59/41 torque distribution instead of 65/35, and a mechanical center diff that picks up instantly, in addition to the electronic one used in the 04 and 05.
