Snow on the NE

I dont know about all states on the NE, but is everyone ready for our snow this weekend in the NJ/PA area? I for one am not looking forward to any kind of snow...however it will be a blast with teh new snow tires. Anyone else venturing out with their 8?

Wayne

I'm leaving my car on the landing, where it's supposed to be. (No winter tires.)

I drove last year with the stock tires which was incredibly stupid. Ultimately I dont mind the snow/sleet, its the salt! Hope the snow stays away for alittle while longer!

Ditto here. There hasn't been much of a serious snow day up here in MA to test my new set of winter tires. So, I'm looking forward for the snow... well, until I get annoyed with the salt

Hi, Wayne. I'll be out there all winter, it is my daily driver. Though new, I tested it on ice in upstate NY about 1 month ago and was fine. But I have the all seasons on it. Salt is what scares me actually.
Cheers!

I am anxious and not at the same time about snow. Never driven a RWD w/ snow tires on snow....want to see how fun that will be. Its ok in a FWD car (esp. when it only has brakes in the front and nothing else :p) But like most say, the salt is what scares me.....the nightmare of having to wash it off before it starts eating everything!!

I'll try it in the snow just to see how it does. But the primary snow vehicle will still be the old standby Celica. Front wheel drive, and at 14 years old, who gives a rip what happens to it!

Its great if you do have an old beater or second car to play with during the winter. I would of gone for that option, however I just dont like the idea of paying extra in my insurance. That 'extra' goes towards toys on the RX-8! I cant take that away

Im in the process of changing my wheels now ( 8:35pm) lol
but im 100% positive that my toyo tires will drive better than the stock tires.
but im afraid to crack a wheel in cold weather so off they go.

but i have a second car a civic that i plan on driving as a daily driver even in the summer
cheap gas

Had my new tires (Pirelli Winter 240 SnowSports) put on last Sat. Looking forward to trying them in the snow. Of course, now the forecast is down to an inch or less!

I sold my Chrysler Sebring Convertible a month ago to my mechanic. I was actually going to keep it as my snow car but he wanted it for his wifes b'day gift. So I bought blizzak LM22's on ASA KA3 rims. Now I'm ready for snow. And it looks cool too. By the way, I love snow days (yes I'm a teacher).

this is my first winter with the 8 and i care too much about it to let the evil salt ruin that pretty face of it! whats the best way to keep it looking good without putting a protective cover on it? you say wash it, but with what? a hose? just sponge/soap/water? its wayy to cold out to wash that thing everytime theres salt on it isnt it hahah

No winter tires. The 8 stays in for most of the winter. It stays in not because of fear of winter handling but to avoid the destruction of salt and sand on the roads. I don't know about everyone else, but I think I would cringe(maybe cry) if while driving down the road a salt spreader comes by and sand blasts the side of my car. This happens all the time in the winter. I'll drve my 92 Lumina until it costs me more to maintain than it's worth.
