There's a do-it-yourself car wash bay place on Rt 31 north, about two miles north of the 202/31 circle in Flemington. Of course, this is still doing it yourself, but it isn't with your own hoses, etc.
There's also a hand-wash on Rt 206 in Raritan (near Somerville). A couple of guys with some power sprayers and a bunch of guys with soapy rags. It is safer than a drive through, but you still run the risk that one of the rags has some dirt/grit in it.

There are probably things closer to you in Princeton, I'm just more familiar with the places around by me in Hillsborough.
As for keeping the road salt and sand off the car in the Winter... ....I'm lucky enough to have a pickup truck to drive in the wintry weather while the 8 stays home in the driveway.

Poppen, if you do a search on the winter issues, you should find some great info. I use my RX-8 during winter and basically keep it safe ( rights tires, bras/masks ), keep it clean ( spray off all the salt each weekend ) and keep it garaged or covered when the snow falls.
Good luck

Thanks Wayne, I've been searching around the forums and finding lots of great tips. As a result I knew more about the car than the dealer did when I bought it (no big surprise there). He tried to tell me that it had all season tires, for example, till I explained otherwise.
I already garage my 8 both at home and at work, and I just bought four winter tires and wheels that I'll install this weekend. Spraying off the salt will be more difficult since we turn off our outside water in winter to prevent the system from freezing.
