So, i've got one of the early 2004 cars and have been having some issues. Probably need the secondary shutter valve cleaned/replaced and maybe starting to lose compression also. At least the dealer thinks so. They'd like to replace my engine.
Are there any specialty rotary shops in the area that anyone knows about? The car still runs well, although it hard starts when hot, and has some hesitation after about an hour of driving. Unfortunately, i can't get it to pass emissions, so it's not registered at the moment.
I'd appreciate any leads, and any opinions as to whether it'd be worth fixing or just selling. It's a California car until 2 years ago, so the rest of the car is in perfect shape.

Did you get a Compression test done at the dealer? What were the results? Why can you not get it to pass emissions what cel is on?
