Thumbs down Rosenthal Mazda Damaged my car!

Well, I took my car into Mazda for the recalls and a few minor issues. After getting my car back it appears that someone at the dealer ******* broke my rear tail lights. It seems no one there would take responsibility and fess up so I had to pay for it out of my pocket. Anyhow if you currently take your car there or plan to do anything with this dealer DONT! There are a bunch of sorry FOCKS. I will post pics on Monday when I get to the shop. I am still pissed about the bill for these lights. I am never ever going to a dealer again.

Sorry about your lights , but I've had nothing but good experiences with Rosenthal - both parts and service-wise. Sorry no one would cop to it, but one incident doesn't make a trend. Now if several people had similar experiences...well, that'd make for a different story.

If you caught the broken tail lights at the dealer, how could they refuse not to fix them? I would have been all over their asses at that point. Sorry about the damage, let us know how much it will cost to replace and install.

They basically told me to Fock off! I buy all my parts from them because of where I work so Carl gave me his employee discount to ease the pain.

I would certainly report the incident to Mazda. Mazda has been putting lots of pressure on these incomptent Mazda delears, and I think if you complain to Mazda, they will offer to speak to the delear, which you should accept their offer. I would think the delear would end up paying for the tail lights after the call

I always do a walk around with the service writer when my car is brought in, then at pick up with the same person. Have never had a problem but I would hope they do come thru for you.

good luck.

Yep, I always walk around to inspect and also pop the hood, and check the interior before I leave the lot.

this is another car brand but I think it is a great idea that more dealerships should follow...when I took my BMW in for work they made me sign a sheet noting any damage before they would work on the car.

No, he is talking about northern Virginia.

I hate dealerships more than anybody, but so far Gaithersburg Mazda has been nothing less than perfect since I bought my 8.

Bummer.

But I hear ya bout the dealerships.

Back in high school and all of college I had a geo metro until I upgrade in winter to what my friends call my 8, "the metro on roids" and the chevy dealership and mazda dealership are one in the same on my end of town, and when I had to take the geo in for clutch work and twice for engine work, the fools left the oil cap off, not once, not twice....three times. The 1st and 2nd time I told them what happened, and the 3rd I showed them it was off before I left, but did they fess up? Nope, said it wasn't their fault, might not have been on when it was brought in. So we went around and around for a good hour and they still wouldn't relent. I pointed out there wasn't oil splashed on the hood, or engine and eve then they wouldn't say they'd replace it. I even went as far as saying the customer is always right. But they didn't do junk. I only took the 8 into the dealership for the recall stuff, but I won't set foot in the service isle if I don't have too. The jacked a few of my friends around too with extra charges and not fastening a tranny well enough and still charged extra to have their mistake fixed.

Fight those guys tooth and nail and make a stink about it.

Oil caps must be really hard to remember.

I met my Mother for lunch one day (I got there first) and as she pulled into a parking space I noticed some kind of filth coming from the lip of the hood and streaming back. I asked her what it was. She said she had just come from the dealer and didn't think that it was there that morning. Had her pop the hood and the oil cap was still sitting on top of the motor and the entire underside of the hood and the motor was coated with oil. The dealer ended up steaming the engine, replacing the oil that was lost (2 qts), and detailing her car.

Same dealer cut one of my vacuum lines while servicing my brakes? Luckily I never leave after service until I have inspected my vehicle and am satisfied.

Sorry to hear that. I take my car to Rosenthal to and haven't had any problems with them. Actually, they have been the most pleasant dealership I have ever dealt with. But again I have only dealt with about three dealerships. The other two where in Hawaii and they were completely horrible.

I feel for ya Apex. Similar thing happened to me at another dealer but with hopefully better results. See
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=25088

Sea Ray posted a good suggestion. I will follow it from now on. When I inspect the car before and after, I'll ask the service manager to come with me to confirm. In my case, the owner/mechanic/dealer seems to be blaming the car wash guys so it's quite possible the service department is telling the truth and someone else damaged your vehicle. It's still the dealer's responsibility though.

I'm not sure if this clown is for real but...

I wonder how Mazda NA would feel knowing a tech would be so idiotic to post a message like this on a board. Kind of like admitting that he doesn't give a rat's *** about his job or the customers that he has to deal with - wonder also if he enjoys vandalizing cars that he sees in the service area.
