Rhode Island Owners?

Any RI owners around? I've seen a dozen or so in my travels, & a middle age guy livin' a block from me. But only two that look like they have a single aftermkt mod. (SS in Warwick 99 parking lot & a badass blue one tricked out in North Prov.)

Lonely here by myself . . .

Really, no other members in RI?

I'm going to have to stop ignoring the voices in my head . . .

Yeah, lots of non-RI locations are still right next door. I'm wondering if there are any local informal groups.

BTW - love the way you worked in the orange. Are all the decals magnetic?

That's the pic I checked out (url in your profile). It looks great. Especially since, IMO, orange is tricky to pull off. Nice work!!

Oddly enough, on the way home for lunch passed a TG on Rt 6, then saw a VR on 295N (I was going South). 2 8's in a day, when I usually go days w/o seeing one. The summer rides are coming out!

jcataldo - yup. I parked mine next to yours, but I had a quick lunch and was out b4 you. Got a nice long look at the chrome stock rims, though. They look f8ckinsweet!

Chris - thanks for the invite. I've got a family deal Sunday, as well. Too bad, b/c Sunday should be a great day for a drive.

I agree w/HC. Got to get something going on around here, even if only informal. A friend of mine has been jawing about some of the routine car shows locally. I'll post here if anything actually comes out of it.

Dennis

I'm in Cranston with a Copper Red Shinka. Only mod is a set of chrome wheels and some BFG KDW's. A friend of mine has an 05 in Whitewater pearl with chrome wheels, a custom two tone interior, and a Greddy turbo. Last dyno run he put down 260 rwhp.

On a daily basis I see three or four RX-8's in the Providence/Cranston area.

I'd like to check out that turbo setup sometime. Post when you guys are going to hit one of the local shows, or just going to meet up somewhere.

^ But I don't have a mini.

Any outdoor events coming up? This close to July 4th it's probably worth keeping an eye on fireworks schedules. Maybe a BBQ at Colt St. Park in Bristol? Packed house for that *****, though. Seekonk speedway? Don't know their schedule, but I'd definitely be down for some demolition derby. My 8 is indestructible.

There is a massive car show at Tasca Automotive in Cranston on September 9th. Last year I had my black RX-8 with chrome wheels, custom interior, Borla catback, and SR Motorsports test pipe on display. My friend had his Greddy Turbo there as well. My Shinka will be there this year. The Greddy Turbo will also be back again. I would love to have some company at the car show. You guys are all invited. I'll post more information as it becomes available.

^^ I bought mine in Mazda Gallery. I work about a couple of miles from the dealer so I went in on a Monday to test drive it. Ended up buying it the next day I couldn't resist and it was the last day of the month so the dealer budged on my offer.

I'd head over to Tasca for that event. Is there a website for info?

I bought mine from Newport Autocenter. Their service dept. is supposed to be one of the best in the country. We shall see. Don't know about the Tasca service dept. I was really irritated with the sales staff, but what else is new?
