Red RX-8 Springfield Road in Richmond??

Are you here? I saw a red RX-8 heading towards Broad at the light right before Costco about 11:30. Are you on the forum? I wasn't in mine, unfortunately, since I was heading back to work in my friend's Escort.

Ok, just saw another red (or maybe the same one) turning left onto West Broad from Parham N. First time I've seen an 8 with the lights on facing me- at first I thought it was ricer with fake HIDs, but then it turned in front of me and I realized that it was an 8, and the HIDs are just aimed so well that they don't shine into other drive's faces.

Darn it, saw it again on at Broad and Pump, this time in my own passenger seat (husband driving). I waved out the window and tried to get the guy's attention, and he looked at me like I was crazy. *sigh*

Cool

Hey, this may be me! I own as Vel. Red RX8 and travel up and down Broad Street . I even get into 5th gear (haha). When are we having a Richmond meeting of Rx8ers?
This weekend is ZAINO weekend so I will be busy for at least 6 hours.

PS my car is parked in front of my clinic , where do I get those cones to keep people away?

Speaking of plates: Need ideas for a VA Plate for a Vel Red RX8.
CMPN8NG? "Compensating"
MDLFCRS? "Mid life crisis"
"SNPLMS" for rearview haha

Welcome Dzzynlv! If that is you, next time don't look at me like I've got three heads while I'm trying to get your attention! Haven't seen the car for about a week now. Was very pretty- didn't get close enough to tell what package it was, or if it was auto or 6 spd. Also wasn't paying attention to whether it had MD or VA tags, because I was so excited to see it.

We should definitely all get together some point- it's hysterical to see the reactions of people when you've got one, let alone multiple, 8s in one place.

I'm the green 8 with the appearance package, spoiler, and rotary accents. My plate is ELARAS 8, so it's pretty hard to miss me. I work in Innsbrook, and live at 64 and Parham (for now) so I'm in the Far West End pretty much all the time. There's a new Titanium 8 in the Capital One parking lot across from my building. I don't suppose its owner is here too?

Chirorx8- I assume you're a Chiropractor? How about IROT8? Or MNIPUL8?

Cool

Capitol Mazda is just down the street from my clinic. It is nice to see the 7 or 8 RX8s they keep in the front lot.
ZAINO question...do I really need to claybar?

I'm guessing you bought at Capitol too? I live a mile from it, so it was the easiest dealer for me to get to- and Troy Newton was VERY patient with me. Charlie Brown at Whitten Bros. treated me like crap, so it was an easy choice.

It can't hurt to claybar it, but I don't think the paint is going to suddenly fall off or look bad if you don't. I was just really paranoid. It doesn't take all that long. I think it took us about 1/2 an hour with two of us working on it.

Hey fellow Richmonders,
I'm not the Titanium at Capital One, but I have a Silver GT w/rotary accents opposite corner from the Exxon Marketplace at The Overlook I&II buildings near you guys. I had seen all of Elara's posts and hoped to see the green machine around town while I was waiting for mine (only a month extra wait w/1.5 weeks for Isabel, picked up Sept. 30 from Capitol). Hopefully I'll run into y'all (figuratively) one day.

Elara, glad to hear you finally got your plates!

If I ever sell my truck I'll probably transfer my "TIMBCK2" plates to my 8; I've had 'em for nearly 10 years now!

Nice! I think one of my coworkers saw you the other day, because she kept trying to tell me about the blue-silver RX-8 she saw in Innsbrook. I'm just up the Exxon side of *** in the CarMax Corporate building(yeah, I'm a bad employee- didn't even buy from my own company- oops. But I doubt our president bought the new M3 convertible he's driving from one of our stores either, so I figure I'm ok).

And Tim- yeah, they FINALLY came in. I chickened out even though I never got pulled without the front plate that Isabel ate, and put both on. At least it's the mountain plate, so it kinda blends in with the car's color.

Got my first two coats of Zaino done and looks real good.
Might take a little longer, now that temp is dropping, for the next coat. Wondering if I need to get snow tires?

Wish I had a camera today, We had two RX-8's parked side by side in front of THE PLAYING FIELD here in Richmond. The other (silver) driver commutes from Williamsburg to here a few times a week. He said he now has 4K miles. My little red vroom vroom only has 400. Elara it would have been nice to have a green RX-8 parked along side.

I saw a silver 8 on 64w this morning and tried to catch it, but it got off at the Gaskins N. exit before I was able to sprint up to it.

Chiro, wish I had seen that! They look so good in groups!

Hey Elara,
If it was around 8:10-8:15 a.m. that was probably me. It's a good thing you didn't catch me, you would have shamed me because of the poor state of my detailing. Hopefully if the weather holds I can clean her up this weekend. BTW I know someone in the legal dept. over there at your office. She's been there for over a year and her husband used to work there before heading to law school, if that gives you a clue. They also bought a new car recently and not from Carmax so you shouldn't feel bad. She was also the one who called me when the HP issue came up on the RX-8 to tell me that her new Accord EX now had 2 more HP! Oh, the indignity! I'll keep my eyes on the rearview mirror more often now that I know you're out there; usually there's nobody in it

Chiro, what is THE PLAYING FIELD? The Diamond? I bet they were pur-ty lined up together.

Later,
WN

THE PLAYING FIELD is a pool hall on West Broad street. Next to Stein Mart.

Wingnut:That would definitely have been you then! It was just about 8:10, I was getting on 64 from the Glenside on-ramp and you blew by. I got stuck about a half mile behind you, boxed in by a truck and a minivan. I'm not usually heading that direction, since I live further west, but I went to Krispy Kreme to get donuts for my department.

And my poor car is filthy as well, and since it's so dark, it LOOKS dirty too. I know who you're talking about- we got our cars around the same time, and spent a few minutes in the parking lot admiring each other's new rides- we even joked about not buying from CarMax. She actually works pretty closely with my department, so we see each other a few times a day.

I'm still seeing the titanium at Cap. One. I think I'm going to go leave a note on the car, and see if I can't get him or her on here too.

Chirorx8- where's your clinic?

No, I don't need any adjustments, but I'd love to see your car
