I'm from Florida, but going to be moving to Maine shortly. I don't have the ability to do the two car thing, and my 8 is my only car. How good (or bad) is it in Winter? Can it handle the snow/ice atleast somewhat decently, or am I better off selling it and buying a car or truck more suited to the area?

 

I've driven mine through two winters.

Get 225-50-17 or 215-55-17 snow tires on some cheap rims.
Change over as soon as the temps are getting below 40 degrees.
Wet and cold on summer tires can be very dangerous.

 

Hmm, well is it manageable with those snow/winter tires? I don't know anything about this sort of stuff....

I've got the Dunlop Winter Sports (M3 or G3 cant remember right now) that i put on in the winter. Not a single problem ever. Now clearence is a different story, lol

 

As long as you practise a bit in a parking lot when the snow falls you'll figure it out. The car handles it well, just don't attempt anything over 4" deep.

 

it deals well I have done it for two winters now the first week I owned it there was a Ice storm but still made it to school 30 min away but took more like 50 on that day just take is slow and easy

 

The car handles better than most FWD or AWD cars, atleast in MA for me. The car is very perdictable and the lack of torque is a major bonus. I'd honestly suggest getting a set of smaller rims, 16's if your a AT and go for the thinnest width you can get as silly as you'll look you'll get better traction in the long run.

Also..... if your moving to ME, both ME and NH have TONS of used car lots anything from 1k to 5k. So just save up some loot and buy a winter beater pontiac (keep on seeing tons of them for sale up in NH lol).

 

Everytime im up in a mountain town i see old beatles and toyota 4x4 trucks from the early 90's. Either could be had for about the price some people around here pay for their winter wheel/tire combo. Pick the car or the tires but you won't get through a winter on summer tires regardless.

 

the car does well in MA with snow tires, DSC controls sliding very well, great and balanced braking.
