Talking Virginia Plates

I have recently been trying to find the Virginia fashion plate that would reduce the bugs bunny appearance. Of course, since I can't buy my RX-8 for 2-3 years (have to pay off van first), then maybe the choices will get better.

I think if you design a plate, and get a certain amount of people to sign up for it, then you can get it put in the list. Of course, we would have to come up with a charity or a cause. I have some Vette Z06 friends that would like a nice looking plate for the front of their cars too.

By the way, Zoom plate wording is hard to find. We spent hours online trying to come up with a phrase. I have "I ZOOM" for my Protege and "WE ZOOM" for my 02 MPV. My wife really likes that on her van plate. (Though she didn't like it when I got the MPV into a 4 wheel drift the other day...too much zoom for her. And no puritanic mumbo jumbo, I was perfectly safe with no other cars anywhere near!)

See ya!

ahhhh the cosmos...gotta love it!im a fan of
astronomy, cosmology and all that other good stuff myself, ive been formulating a theory or two for a while now...close to completion, well, almost, its actually more like a bunch of theories that kinda work together to make one big one, many of them sort of redisign the universe(?) as we know it and kind of fly in the face of many other theories, but unify a lot as well...still cant answer the ultimate question though...but getting closer! and were getting close to a quantum gravity, so thats good god i love this stuff, i can go on for hours lol

do you have any of your own theories? and what field fascinates you most? of course i cant divulge mine lol, so i dont expect you to divulge yours.

anyway...
whats the point of some custom plate, i kind of hate them. i think the regular state assigned random order plates are the best ways to go. why? because, if you know your car is hot, why do you have to get some stupid saying/phrase scrawled on the back to draw attention to it? i think they detract fromt he car. sure, some of them can be kool, but most of them are excessive and somewhat tasteless in my opinion

Poooooman...

And now we know why he calls himself the POOman.

The main reason is it is very reasonably priced here in Virginia.

I certainly don't think my MPV is "hot" (maybe for a minivan). I just like having the option. Plus the standard Virginia plate is very ugly...why detract from your car either.

Sounds more like hypotheses you're describing there. How much observation and experimentation have you done to elevate your ideas to the theory level?

I have just returned from a relaxing week vacation at the beach. It was soooooooo nice I didn't want to return to the real world. The weather was perfect everyday, the ocean was nice and calm, and the sound and sight of the ocean waves on my back deck were breathtaking.
Now, about my favorites......theory wise, I'd have to say the Superstring theory. Antimatter is also interesting, physicists have been able to create tiny quantities of anti-matter by smashing sub atomic particles together at near light speeds. It would be a great fuel and an antimatter rocket could reach a planet, for example say the planet is 41 light years away, only 130 earth years to get to. Aside from that wormholes and the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe are very interesting. Everyone has a different take on it. I believe with no question that there is intelligent life somehwere else in this universe.
I do have a a few theories of my own, but I could type a book about all of them and I know I don't want to waste forum space with them all.
Conspiracy theories are very interesting too, the current reads the last few months have been books involving them.

I should get Area RX-8 on the plate in honor of Area 51, or perhaps Comet X-8. I still haven't decided on a plate yet but did like Elara's idea XQUIS8, and I also like RX-8 4ME and MY RX-8. I need to get on the ball and get a plate reserved. I missed my chance with RX-8 because I waited too long.

Hey i just read in this months discovery that folks at CERN were able to create 1million anti-hydrogen atoms recently! my own personal theory from years of reading on the topic is that black holes (because of the elongation of time) never actually form in our space/time. about 3 or so months ago, i know this sounds fishy but really i started talking to freinds about it 3 years ago, ther was a story about an up and coming physicist who has according to the mag theorised the same thing in his new way of thinking about relativity. i'm not bragging btw, it's just kind of cool to see some real respected person in the field thinking along the same lines

and Halley, just my opinion, you should go with EXQUIS8.

I thought the elongation of time was only viewed by an external observer outside the event horizon (Schwarzchild radius) due to infinite red-shift. The actual particle does indeed fall through the event horizon, but you cannot see this as it appears to slow down and stop and then slowly fade from view. The upshot of all this is that I think there IS a real singularity within the event horizon (i.e. black holes do form). Also if they did not form then we could not have detected them from their gravitational influence or x-ray bursts etc.

Cosmology used to be a hobby of mine a long time back - I went to see people like Patrick Moore and Stephen Hawking give lectures in London and Cambridge in the late 80's. Interesting stuff.

I read the article in Discovery on Anti Matter about the scientists at CERN. Very interesting stuff.
I tend to believe Black Holes do exisit due to the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory, who have independently provided what could be the best direct evidence yet for the existence of an event horizon, the defining feature of a black hole. X-ray observations have offered evidence for an event horizon by surveying black hole candidates that seem to be swallowing nearly a hundred times as much energy as they radiate. Those results imply that trillion-degree gas is falling over the brink of an event horizon, like water over the edge of a waterfall.
I went on the dmv site and XQUIS8 is taken but EXQUIS8 is not.

actually pelucidor that is what bugged me for years about the idea. i couldn't quite work out that problem. however, this new seems to. and as he explains it better than i , i will get the article and post the appropriate bit in the lounge tomorrow or the next day. that way we won't have to completly hijack this thread. oh and did you hear that someone actually stopped light for a short time recently? things are really cooking now in the astro-physics community.

edit: i know i've been reading all of the stuff from hubble and chandra also, it is very convinincing stuff and i hope it is true as it would makes things easier to my thinking. it's a tough arguement sure. but wait til i post the article

wow talk about a thread hijacking...atleast it's by the thread started =p all this astronomy is interesting. i had just read an article recently regarding alternate universes. it basically boiled down to 2 conditions, if our universe is a probable universe and the unitary wave theory is correct, there should be another us 10^118 meters away, however the farthest we could possibly see currently is 10^116 meters so that's still 100x farther than we could ever possibly hope to observe given our current laws of physics. anyhow, it was in scientific american if any of you care to check it out.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted that!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did go ahead and reserve EQUIS8 only reserved until 10/12/2003 but my 8 should be in way before then. I may end up changing my mind on a plate but thought it better to reserve it just in case.

Now, all we need is that Marvin the Martian friend of Bugs Bunny, with his Illudium Pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator to zap this down to 6 characters!

The same thing happened to me when I saw pictures of the 3rd gen. RX-7 for the first time - Road & Track, December 1991. My friends STILL get tired of me talking about it. And yes, they may not give a rat's @ss about the car and how special it is, but they will think they are pretty cool while riding shotgun in it.

I'm getting an 8, but the FD RX-7 will always be my ultimate car. It is so damned sexy and unique. Despite it's age it can still destroy most cars on the road......... especially the 8 !!!!!! I will have to get used to looking at 8's in my rearview mirror.

btw, i like RENESIS (better reserve it quick)

I try to explain about it being the next generation rotory, ect..... and they still think it is odd that I have decided on this as my choice. It may not be an Audi, but I think it looks just as good and will have a much better engine. I am not automotive expert though.

comet-

You don't have to be an automotive expert to recognize genius and a blatant march away from the "beaten path." Good choice. The 8 will be my 9th Mazda product. (5 RX-7's, 2 MX-6's and 1 Millenia). They are/were all great. You will not be dissapointed. Audi's and BMW's are nice cars, but they are boring and EVERYONE has one. Congratulations for joining the "revolution." :D
