North Penn Mazda

Anybody have any dealings, good or bad, with the service department here? Or Willow Grove Mazda?

Is it rotary related?
I had some questions regarding the swap I'm finishing up in my 04 8 and the guys response floored me.
Their 'head rotary' tech told me, we don't really serviced these vehicles, we just replace the engines if they don't work.
The parts department seems slightly more 'knowledgeable' but it's a stretch as they claim to have never needed to replace fuel pump in an 8.

anyone know of a good philly area dealer that can actually do work without excuses?

update: the service rep called back to say he had a miscommunication with his tech. the tech said there's a blown fuse or whatnot that's preventing communication with the PCM. they're going to troubleshoot further. ;-) my 8's symptoms are: 1) key fob doesn't interact with the car 2) center console is not responsive to any buttons. so, yes, a blown fuse or damaged wire would make sense, eh? oy vey.

selmeralto, i'll keep falker in mind. thanks.

update 2: after the above drama, i just got a call that a blown fuse was indeed the culprit (a $.70 culprit. sheesh.) so the CEL is gone. they replaced the spark plugs, flashed the PCM, cat was fine, washed the outside (cleaned the inside too!), and gassed up the car. ^_^

NO! GET AWAY FROM THEM!

They burned me in the worst way after 3 years of taking my car there. They some how forgot and didnt see my car in the lot for 4 days and didn't see my engine and parts in the garage for the same time. Yes they some how forgot that i was waiting for an emergency engine swap.

I've talked to the Manager of service and the GM of the dealership...i will never ever ever take my car there.

I used to rep that dealership because they were good. However, they burned me so freaking bad that i will never bring my car there again.

Oh and their body shop sucks. They had my car in there for a month to just replace my hood, passenger fender, front bumper, and passenger tail light. The manager of the bodyshop never EVER EVER returns your calls. I even talked to the damn GM about it and he couldnt even get the guy to call me back.

tl;dr - stay the hell away from north penn imports.

So who do you use now, Francesco? Faulkner Mazda had some big changes, all the good guys stayed at the place that switched from Mazda to Hyundai, and the new manager of the Mazda shop is a butthead, at least that's my experience. He quoted me $800 for a tuneup and battery and then came out with an $1100 bill. When I complained, he said fine, fine, I'll fix it. Then tried to charge me $925. I flat out told him I'm not paying more than the $800 he quoted and I agreed to, and he finally caved. Idiot.

I got a quote for body work from Mike at North Penn (my car was vandalized in my driveway a few weeks ago, $2200 worth), and he seemed good -- of course, everyone sounds good when they're giving quotes, but I didn't pick up any slimyness. lol I'm scheduled to get the work done in a few weeks. Were your problems with them recent? Now I'm nervous

I'm doing all of the work myself. That motor swap business was the final straw, im buying a daily soon and converting the car into a TT track car.

As far as North Penn Imports' body shop, the manager is terrible. He will never ever ever call you back. I even got the GM involved and the guy NEVER called me back. This was last year with i hit that deer, remember? THey had my car for a month and i didn't know the amount of work they were doing BECAUSE THEY NEVER TOLD ME. I would rather rattlecan my car then take it there.

Now i had heard good things about Old Forge Collision Center, which is a mile or two away from north penn imports. However, i heard good things, i have not witnessed them.

I cannot stress enough to stay away from north penn imports, I would not want anyone else to go through what i had to go through.

Here's my update on this -- Francesco, I agree with you on the body shop. I had three separate serious problems with them, BUT the service department manager and owner of the dealership stepped in to make good on everything. Not only did they get the bad coil issue from Faulkner fixed for me through warranty at no charge to me, they got involved when they didn't have to with the body shop's screwups and got that fixed for me too.
