New owner -- newbie oil questions

I'm sure this has been answered, but what oil are people in the North-East running in their 8's? non-synth 5w-20 is what Mazda recommends, however with the lower average temps in the NE will this be overly viscous in the Renny?

Since changing the oil in the pan only puts in 50% new oil, because of the oil coolers, is there a procedure I should be asking for to exchange 100% of the oil when going in for an oil change?

I use Royal Purple 5w30 with no problems as of yet.

To maximize oil drainage try this: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-max-oil-out-oil-change-90879/
