New Long Island RX-8 Owner!!

Well....I just picked my new RX-8 up from the dealer about 4-hours ago (see sig. for details)!!! Of course, had to rush home, change cars to the SUV and pick up the kids cause of an emergency in the wife's family....but tomorrow I'm all over the road with it. I tell you - the ride home was AWESOME...had to work very hard to keep it under 7k RPM as per the dealer for the first 600 miles. LOVING this car. Sorry to see me SC430 go in trade....but this ride is SOOO much more fun.

Any other LI's out there? Love to hear your experiences. Thanks to all the great posts on the site...helped make my decision-making process very easy and very fast.

If any of you want to meet up this weekend im/email me. Congradulations and start getting out on the road to enjoy it!. I know everyone else does.

There arent too many of us out there, correct me if Im wrong, Ive seen only 3 8's besides my own on the streets.... Thats a very small number, considering Ive been looking out for this car on the street since it was first released...

I've had it for 10 days and haven't not seen any other RX-8's on the road - but granted - I haven't left this part of Suffolk County with it yet either! The manual said 6k I believe - dealer told be 7k RPM....so I'm staying right in the middle.

hey everybody... im a longislander and future 8 owner. i wanted to tell you all about an awesome drive that i just found out about with my dad on a drive we recently took. jniamehr, you probably already know where this is. As you go down northern blvd past rallye motors, before the roslyn viaduct, make a right off the main road. Then make a right at the light at the bottom of the hill (its a left or a right). If you drive down that road for afew minutes theres an awesome s curve that really tests the car. later on, you can make a left at the first stop light (not stop sign, but the light). That takes you up a really awesome twisty road that is just a blast to drive up and down. And the best part, the police rarely go down there. Does anyone know any other great rides in the jericho / brookville area (<--me)?

I've been on this board for awhile now but I've held off buying my car until after the winter was over. It's been rare to see an RX-8 in my normal commute which is from Port Jeff to Melville. Now that I own one, maybe that's a good thing! It would be nice to see a longer line-up of RX-8's at the next meet though.
