New Hampshire owners?

Hi there! here! We traded our 2002 Chevy Impala in for a 2006 RX-8. We tell people it's the new family car - 4 seats, 4 doors, right?

I've met owners of one RX-8 from NH. I believe they own a 2004. I waved at a silver 8 on the highway today, I think they had a MA plate.

Are there any others here from NH? Any of you planning to attend the Exotic Car Show at the Budweiser plant in Merrimack this Saturday? Hope to see some of you there.

Cheers!

Sounds cool! I have a bit of a dilemma, actually. I am the secretary of the New England Z club and owner of a '82 280ZX, so I have to decide which car I'm going to bring! Quite frankly, since getting the 8, I've only had the 280 out once this year! I feel a bit like a traitor!! What time are you guys meeting, just in case I take the new, faster car?

BTW - my name is Michele, I live in Pembroke. Nice to meet ya!

Welcome and congrats on getting an 8 and in the right color even! Hope to see you at the show with the 8 or whatever, it's looking like we should have a good rep for the 8 there, so polish it up good!

Maybe I'll drive the 8 and wear a Nissan Z shirt! Does that count? I'll figure something out! If I do drive the Z, I'll be sure to stop over and meet you guys.

Do you have any drives planned, like a Fall drive or anything? How spirited do your drives get? Will I need new tires and brakes, like after an AutoX?

Thanks for the warm welcomes! Look forward to meeting some fellow Rot-heads!!

Hi Michele:

Welcome! Well to tell you the truth, I'm the President of the local Miata club and I'm bringing my 8 to the show. My wife will be bringing her Miata though as well as another club member, but I'll have my 8.

Folks are meeting up at my house around 7:30am to leave by 8:00am to get there around 8:30am or so.

Hope you can join us Michele!

Lil' Red:

To tell you the truth, my wife and I just planned a covered bridge run with my Miata club and don't see why I couldn't run it again with the 8 folks?

Please post up if you are interested in possibly going on a cover bridge run around southern/western NH?

If I get enough interest, maybe I'll plan it as a run. I'm thinking maybe Sept 30th for the run date.

My husband and I were talking about how we are going to handle the show. We were thinking one of us could drive the Z and the other could drive the 8. Now we just have to draw straws to see who gets which one!

I will be in lovely Montana Sept. 30, but I will be back in time for the first weekend in October, the 7th. Weather is usually still pretty nice then. What do you think?

Question

Can't do it the first Sat in Oct as this is the day for our monthly meeting for my Miata Club. Maybe the following Sat the 14th?

Thoughts?

October 14 works for us! As long as I block the date out on our calendar I can make sure nothing else gets scheduled then.

My husband owns an S2000, so that makes 3 car clubs we are now involved in. We also own our own mobile dyno business, so that keeps us pretty busy during the months of good weather as well.

Since the 8 is so new, I really haven't thrown it around much. (I did have a pickup truck race me down Canal St. in Manch last night. My son thought that was great!) I'd love to take it out on the roads and see what she can really do!

He's 13, so he's right at that age where it was totally cool. Of course, we're car people (2000 Honda S2000 t/c, 2003 MR2 Spyder, 1982 Datsun/Nissan 280zx, 2006 RX-8), so he's been around this for a while. My husband dynos at home pretty often, so Mike will get off the bus and there will be an RSX, 350Z, G35, or some other modded vehicle and the kids think it's cool we have different cars all the time! Mike loves it!!

And the saying "Zoom zoom" comes up a lot, like the other night when I looked down and I was going 81 on the highway. Funny, it didn't feel like 81!!!

My daughter who is turning 15 at the end of Sept loves my 99 10AE Miata and my RX-8. Told her to first learn how to drive, then we'll work on learning a stick. I know my wife (step-mom) will let her drive her Miata when the time comes, but I guess I'll be the skeptical one

So we good for a "Rotary Convoy to Covered Bridges Run" on Oct 14th?

Sounds like fun!! Just say where to meet, if we're stopping for lunch, where we'll be ending up, etc., and we'll be there! How long is the Miata drive? Pretty much a whole day event?

Lead-footed vixen in black RX-8 Plaistow

A black RX-8 accelerated rapidly by me as I was exiting my car in a parking lot in Plaistow. Very attractive brunette at the wheel. I'd like to see her mods list.

What dealers do people like in the area? I just brought mine in to have an SRS light problem taken care of and to get the recall performed at Werner Mazda in Manchester. I mentioned engine swaps to the front desk guy and he said he'd never seen an engine replaced under the recall. Made me a bit wary if they weren't too thorough. Also, the rental they gave me was a Chevy HHR. What a POS. OTOH, after they did the recall they informed me that they wrote down that I had mentioned hard starting (which I hadn't) so that they could replace the starter and battery under some TSB. The battery's warranty had expired in May I think, so I can't complain there.
Anyone have tint or go without a front plate in NH? Gotten much trouble from the cops?

Hi there! I live in Pembroke and have been using Grappone at Bow Junction as my dealership. That's where we bought the car and they seem to be pretty good. I got one tech who apparently didn't know that oil was going to go into the injectors after he started the engine, so when I got it back from the oil change it was down and I had to add some, but otherwise they've been excellent. I had a high school kid back into my car a few months ago and did about $1700 in damages. The collision center at Grappone is awesome!!! They had the car for about a week and it came back flawless! As for driving with no plate on the front - they will bust you unless you drive a pickup truck, SUV or mini van. So driving an RX-8 with no plate will definitely get you a ticket! Not right, but that's the way it is.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll get that plate on today. Now I've gotta get around to getting an inspection before I get ticketed for that...

Anyone use Werner Mazda in Manchester? Are they any good? I've been using Tulley in Nashua for anything I don't want to do myself and I'm not completely impressed. Nice people but they don't leave me feeling like they went the whole mile, let alone the extra mile. They wouldn't even tell me my flash level when I asked. I got a "don't worry about it". Really didn't like that.
