If JPR screwed your friend over, tell him to post up on 7 club in the bad business section.

explain?? Jim is an awesome guy and has always been super helpful. he always took time to talk to me and help me out with any questions ive had. and considering i only went to him once in 07 to get my turbo kit installed in my 8 and buy a manifold from him like 2 years ago, i dont considered myself a regular or anything yet hes still always willing to help me..

Well, that engine was originally street ported using racing beat templates ... I am not the owner, but during the rebuild it was clear that the porting was clearly rushed (it was a step rather than a smooth curve)

Also a spark plug was cross-threaded in one of the housings

Also the front header bolt was cross-threaded and there was a leak ... this was discovered, car was taken back, JPR attempted to drill out, but the issue was only made worse

cost was about 6500 including parts ...

there is more to the story, but that is the gist of it

Jim is definitely a super awesome guy. Always down to talk even if he has alot of work and even over the phone. The dude cares about people for sure, customer or not. He was really nice to me and I wasn't a customer. Besides Ihor and Rich, he was the 3rd guy who got my feet wet in rotarys. Having said that, I'm very wary of sending him big projects these days. I don't know what's going on over there but there seems to be complaints from stuff coming out of their shop recently no? I do believe Jim can do some awesome work though. Khris took his car to JPR for a motor rebuilt and he seems happy. I bet no expense was spared in his case though.

Stink who did the work? Was it actually Jim himself?

this is what we need to ask ourself before just make a statement...
my car was in KDR, but since the person who took care o my car was whack, i can't say that they did bad job. i realized that you just have to make sure that the person who will take care of your car is the person that you can trust....
i guess, it is all depending on the dave or jim to make sure that their employees are in the good hands.
doesn't JIm do engine work by himself?

IIRC Jim is the only one who works in his shop and thats why turn around times are slow... but ironically out of everyone i talk to, he picks up the most ahaha

Well they did do a bad job, BUT Dave has taken care of that issue and fired that employee. his work ended up costing KDR more then he made them. Its tough since KDR is getting bigger and bigger and getting more and more work (as we all know they are ALWAYS busy and packed with cars!) so screening new guys take some time. but in the end, Dave takes care of his customers the best.

KDR fan boy since 2007.

im assuming the usually tom night? outback round 9-930?

I don't know ... I think so ... I would imagine the motor rebuild was done by Jim. Maybe someone else swapped it ... which would explain some things ... still ... How do you crossthread a sparkplug

Actually man, considering how many projects were at his shop whenever I dropped by years back, I think he's actually pretty fast. I don't know how he gets anything done. That's a huge shop for just one dude and he spends all this time helping people out. I remember talking to him for 30 mins on multiple occasions over the phone.
