Hello, stumbled across this thread. It looks old but thought I would give it a try anyway. Can anyone recommend a good rotary mechanic in the maryland area preferably north maryland around Bel Air???? Would really appreciate any help.

What do you need?

 

Mechanic,

wanting to buy new engine and outfit with super charger or turbo and have installed.
There are a few things now that I could do but do not have time and need to get them fixed P0661, motor mounts, exhaust etc. But any work I do now I want to fit into the plan of redoing the engine hot.

 

There technically are no new rotary Renesis engines, just rebuilt with new internal parts, as needed. There are threads here that recommend experienced rebuilders. It will cost you less if you supply your engine core, if the irons are still in decent shape. (no way to tell until teardown)

I would pm Moon Assad and maybe he can help you in Maryland. If you are willing to go further north into Southern New jersey, I can recommend JPR Imports in Blackwood, NJ. He has decades of experience and has built everything rotary up to and including 1000hp rotary dragsters ! Tell him Jerry Williams sent you.

Seems like the community is drifting apart in the lower tristate area. Lots of community posts like this with little to no activity anymore. I propose a meet in late July or early August to resolve this. Would be nice to make it a full rotary meet. Maybe in Kent Island under the bridge? Other recommendations are welcome of course. Just need to see if we can build any interest in it first.

 

Kent Island is a bit far for me (I'm in Philly), but I'd love to get something together if possible!

 

We did have a great RX8club clambake/crabbake on Kent Island a few years ago, and it was worth the trip. Don't remember the name of the MD RX8club member who set it all up.

 

Where do you 2 think would be the best central location for one? I know there are a good bit of guys in NJ and PA. I'm not sure about the DC area and I've only seen 2-3 others in my area. Something closer to Philly would probably work better to get a larger turnout.

 

I've seen the same lack of get togethers in the Rx7 community in the tri-state area. I am having a barbeque and meet at my place on Saturday August 5th. I'm supplying the food and everybody brings whatever they want to drink. If any of you Rx8 guys don't mind hinging out with some Rx7 guys, I'd love to see you.

I am about 4 miles from the Delaware, 15 miles east of Quakertown, and 12 miles south of Hellertown in the country right where routes 212 and 412 intersect. There's a pool to cool off.

 

Nice! Well whatever else we do, we should try to make that happen IMO.

gmonsen there are a few of us RX8 guys( 200.mph,keck03, etc.) in the lehigh valley that still get together, I'm at cars and coffee at the steel stacks every month Cars & Coffee Lehigh Valley (Bethlehem, PA)
I also "host" the MID-PA mini dragon 3rd Mid-PA Mini Dragon Meet You and all of your RX7 friends are more than welcome to show up to it and 200 will have random get togethers up his way (scranton).
If you don't mind the black sheep of the rotary world hanging out with the poster child, set up a local tread or pm me the details and I'll spread the word.

 

Very cool. I am at Cars & Coffee every month as well. I had my red Testarossa there on the 23rd. Love to have you guys come by. I'll set up a BBQ thread somewhere here.

I'm an RX7club member too(yagie) although I don't yet have an RX7. I've come close 3-4 times to picking one up, but something always seems to come up right when I'm ready to make the jump. Kid, unexpected bills, and no more parking spaces are the last 3 big reasons lol. I'm a little over an hour south of you but I'd love to make the drive up to meet some more enthusiast.

#DreamGarage. You have exactly what my list of future cars looks like. And the triumphs and other bikes are a nice touch too lol.

I'll have to make sure I put the mini-dragon meet on my list as well. I saw 2 dates for it. Has it already happened or is it happening in July? I've also been wanting to get a group together to make the trip to skyline drive too and run the 100 mile trip and back sometime in the future.

 

Very cool, roto-moto. come on by. I'd hit an Rx7 pretty soon, if you want one at the current pricing. Prices have been going up strongly.

 

Oh yeah I've been keeping a keen eye on the prices. I've been talking to Fritz about buying the 93 MB he has listed, but I'm going to have to wait a bit longer as I'm saving for my wedding and a new house in the spring. After that the first big buy will 100% be an FD. PM me the details on the meetup if you don't mind though and I'll bring my little one and my Shinka up to hang out

Also, for anyone that see's this in time a few friends on mine and I are meeting up tomorrow morning to go to the Maple Lawn Cars and Coffee which is at Sidomo in Fullton, MD.
