I was all set to attend but just got preempted by wife - must drive to RI to see niece in school play! I have cancelled my reservation at ZoomZoom. Maybe another time.

according to the zoom zoom web page, we have to sign up for the rx8 driving school. so does this mean that I have less of a chance to sign up before it fills up if my time slot is 11:15 on 11/6?

Therefore, I have changed the zoom zoom live to 11/6 9:45am instead. Yes, I'm a bona-fide AA.
I'd love to, but with the wife being there, I don't know if I'd be able to partake in the NNJR event at all... we're going for the ZoomZoom event... but I'll make a point to come over and find ya.

If you come over to ZoomZoom... I'll be the guy wearing a black/orange Mazda Rev It Up jacket.... see if anyone picks up on it.

Weather forecast is in our favor, both Sat 70f and Sun 71f (knock on wood!). I will know for sure whether the autox will be held as scheduled on 11/4, according to www.autox4u.com In any case, I will be there on both 11/5 & 11/6 to run autox/meet up with you.

I will be in the gray RX-8 with banged up driver-side front lip (kiss of death by cones just this Saturday).

Anybody rolling from around NYC (Queens/Bklyn/Manhattan) or near NJTP, that want to meet up, so we can go together? My time is around 9am, so will be leaving earlier of course.

Just got back. What a blast! I only had time to do each of the events once, the lines were just too long. I must admit that the small tracks fit the MX-5 better than the RX-8. I walked away very impressed with that car. I also walked away wanting to start auto-crossing my 240SX.

I was talking to one of the Mazda reps, and he said all the cars that they use for theses events (and past Rev-It-Up) get crushed at the end of the season! For liability, they can’t be resold. I can understand that, but I can't believe that they wouldn't donate the cars to a tech school or college (or not sell, but give one too me ).

CRX Millineum... I tried getting over to the auto-x.. but they wanted $12 each (wife and I) to go over... even tho I said I was going over to the auto-x. Sorry I couldn't make it.

It was a fun event.... I ran a 28.5 on the Miata course and won the 12-1 hour as fastest time. IMHO, the car handles a bit better in stock form than the outgoing miata... and has plenty of oomph to get up and go. They also had me go out and do two more runs to see if I could back up my time at 1pm... I was getting ready to go out and the announcer asked "Who's the biggest guy here that wants to go as a passenger? LOL

They picked someone out and I was like... "sure, what the heck. " (He was a pretty big boned fellow!) We went out and I did a 28.9. THen he said for me to go out and do one more alone shooting for a 27... but I overcooked one of the sharp turns and lost a few 10ths... and pulled a 28.6.

The Jinba Ittai, I lost all three ***** on the last turn before the finish on my second run... which was an 18.6. Just a few 10ths slower into that turn and I would have made it. My wife beat me with a 19.7... she gloated all day and she pulled off a 30.9 on the MX5... so at least I had my revenge on her. (She doesn't auto-x either... ;
)
On the matched time, I got a 29.1xx. Wasn't close enough.. someone else was closer.

Had a good day, couldn't have asked for more perfect weather to be out among other car fanatics.

I had an awesome time. I ran a 30.400 on the performance challege and I think a 31.xxx on the Jinba Ittai. It was a great day for it and I definately have to try some auto-x'ing in the near future because that was the most fun I've had in a long time. I'm hooked. Anybody else want to check out some auto-x'ing with me?

Imp, I too realized that it wasn't gonna be possible for you to come by the autox after seeing the only entrance to the autox site to be of the admission booth. Autox racers had gone thru the airport gate earlier in the morning, bypassing the main entrance, which had to be closed off once the course was hot. I did drive past by the ZoomZoomLive twice with car number displaying on the side in the hope of attracting your attention =)

For the Performance Challenge (Autox layout) with target time of 31sec, my 1st run resulted in DNF due to a cone missing thereby me blowing thru the imaginary gate. 2nd run was 30.104, not fast enough to be the hourly winner. The Miata is definitely a great sports car right-out-of-box. The particular one I drove only got suspension package (no DSC control button). It was tossable, agile, and oversteer-proof. It had a slight hint of understeer dialed-in, though nothing offensive or distracting. I like it a lot, more so than my own RX-8 (shockingly!)

As for Matched Time Gymkhana, the match time is 29sec. 1st run in Mazda3 with me watching over my wrist watch came away with 29.074, except I was penalized for an extra 1sec for blazing thru the back-course to make up time, !@%^. Overdrove the 2nd run due to co-driver failing to call out time at different intervals as meticulously planned...(the extra 25pts would be enough for the MX-5 die-cast model)

On the Jinba Ittai Experience, the target time is 20sec with each ball costing 2sec, and all three out being DSQ. 1st run 21.9xx, all ***** in. 2nd run, 20.7xx, all ***** in. It was a very interesting experience in trying to look ahead the turns and scanning status of the big outer bow/small inner shallow bow at the same time.

Slight off-topic, Sat's autox saw my first 1st place in RX-8 and 1st SCCA event. Check out http://www.autox4u.com/2005results/1152005nnjr.htm. 2nd place competitor was running Hoosier A4, 3rd place running Kumho V710. I ran Dunlop SP SSR!!! I was psyched and pumped my fist out of the window when the announcement came thru at my very last 6th run. Before this event, I had been running with non-SCCA venues that classify RX-8 with shall-we-say-not-apple-to-apple competitors.

I hope one day we will get to meet finally, maybe at Topeka!

well, well, well.... bxb40 and I have been saying how awesome autox is, especially in our RX-8 for the entire year. Guess no one believed us until seeing it firsthand at the ZoomZoomLive.

Check out my sticky on autox calendar in NJ for the rest of the year (not that many left). Unfortunately, bxb40 and I will not be attending due to schedule and traveling time. Maybe next year we will get to see you being a regular like us...

Haha, yeah I meant 21.xxx. It was hard to watch the course and the ***** at the same time. Scientific fact that women multitask better, so maybe that's why she beat me, lol.

Imp, what's your name? Were you the guy in the glasses? I was in line around that time and I saw someone get called up there.

CRX, I def always wanted to try auto-x, just never got around to it. But now, you'll definately be seeing me. Does it cost money to auto-x?
