Wasn't me! Winters just on the rear was unnerving, but far better than none at all, and I could keep moving around as needed, just have to keep it REAL slow to keep the front end (on summers still) under control.

Looking to purchase some snow tires soon as this is my first winter with my 8 and as most of you know, we just had our first significant snowfall. What do you guys recommend for snow tires? Thought about some Blizzak WS60s. I also read elsewhere on here that you shouldn't mount them on the stock rims? Then that would double the total price if I were to get different rims.

most people get a set of 17 inch rims for a couple reasons,

first, 17 inch snow tires are cheaper than 18

second, they like the ease of just swapping rims in the winter instead of dismounting and mounting the snows and having to worry about the TPMS.

And i have Dunlop Winter Sport (the run flat version) and live them, they sure proved their worth after this last weekend.... and look on craigslist and here, you can get a real good deal on rims and tires if you keep your eyes open

Alright cool. 225/45 or 50 will fit the 8 right? And I know that the 17s or 18s would have worked, but now with your tip, I'll probably do the 17s. I may just try to find some cheap 17 inch steelies. I could give a **** less what the wheels look like in the winter.

This is an awesome calculator for messing with specs. Just put in the RX-8's stock wheel/tire on the left, and whatever rim/tire combo you find on the right to get a clear picture of what is different in dimensions.

RX-8 is 18x8 with +42 offset i believe, and 225/40/18 tire. It will give you a summary of the differences below the right image, in laymans terms as well as technical, and will also let you know if the change is drastic enough to likely not work.

Also make sure you find rims with 5x114.3mm or 5x4.5" bolt pattern, 5x100 is the most common for the 5-lug wheels, so if it isn't mentioned, it is probably 5x100

Seen what I believe to be a BB 8 at the Shaws/Home Depot plaza in Attelboro today around 4:30'ish. Rear looked a bit lower than normal but I'm assuming ya must of had some weight in the trunk. Couldnt tell if it was RI or MA plates though since I had the kids with me attention was elsewhere.
