Mass Bill to Ban Aftermarket Exhausts!?
This was in the general automotive section but I figured might get some of us MA folks rallied to contact our rep's and such. I personaly plan on finding my rep's email and telling them not to support this bill, and I urge all of you who live in MA to do the same. This will give Cops to me to much power over our cars, plus our stock exhaust sounds aftermarket as it is (hehe) so imagine getting pulled over every so often and try to explain to the officer "Its stock sir I swear..." talk about a major waste of time. Please again email your rep and remind them elections are coming up.
Edit: For those who live in Norfolk County who are unsure of who your rep might me (like me lol).

Wow, do they have nothing better to do with their political muscle than this, what a waste of time! How about homeless people or drug atticts or something that is more of giving back to the community than this!

^ Nah aparently our policitians both Rep and Dem rather fight about Gay marriage, the big dig, and aparently aftermarket exhaust's.
I hope the Sema people have heard of this bill and have put some lobbying into making sure this bill gets defeated. Again I already wrote to my rep so here's hoping. Although hmm now I'm curious would a Mazdaspeed Exhuast be considered aftermarket or TrD exhaust or.. (you get the point right? lol) if so I guess we could contact MNAO and see if they can get some wheels going. Making it illegal would cost them some money in the long run with all their Mazda Service Dept.

As far as I remember reading it would limit all aftermarket exhausts over a certain decible. From what I remember when they tried to do something like this out in NY when I lived on Long Island, people were getting pulled over for TRD exhausts on their Celicas. Which luckily come with a certificate saying it's legal in all states and meets a decible requirement. The cops were still cracking down hard and trying to give them hell despite.
I got pulled over one night for exhaust (which really wasn't that loud, I just happened to be in high RPM's from downshifting...). I lied. I told them I had a leak and was getting it fixed that weekend.... :-X Was partially true, we just bolted up my headers at the time on my old car and the were leaking.

Having it set to a certain db would be acceptable but I hightly doubt the state is gonna fork over the cash to equip each police car with a db reader. And I doubt even more that a officer of the law can accurately tell what 95db is. I beleive our stock exhaust puts out around 93 or 94 I forget. To me its just for the wrong reason's, I love hearing a mustang roar on by at times be wrong to hear it muffled because of some stupid girlyman lawmakers.
