Long Island, NY RX8 Owners
Jack up the front of car, and take off wheel.
Loosen one 14mm bolt, and completely remove the other one (look at the DIY for which ones).
Swing the caliper open, rotating it on the one bolt that is loosened but still attached. Remove the two pads, TRY TO KEEP THE METAL CLIPS IN PLACE. If they fall out it's not a big deal, but if they don't that's better because they can be a little confusing to re-orient and re-insert.
If pads are very worn, you may need to push the piston back into the caliper a bit, so that the new pads fit. This might require the use of a medium-sized C-clamp. If you do this, take the cap off the brake reservoir in the engine bay, which cal alleviate the pressure a bit.
Put the new pads in (the clips serve as springs to keep the pad in place, so look and understand how this works, and then inserting the new pads will be much easier.
Re-assemble.
Read the article/thread on here called brakes FAQ, and read the section about bedding. It's very important if you want to get anywhere near the full potential out of your brakes.

I'm looking for a good mechanic/shop... looks like I'm in the market for a new clutch. Any recommendations for the Queens/Nassau area?

Thanks for the info, but seeing how hard the place is to contact, and no one has anwered the phone or returned my messages, I'm looking for any suggestions on other reputable shops in the LI area.
