ill defiantely look out for ya.

although, i have to say lately ive been kinda turned off by rx8 owners. i pulled up next to a white 8 in old mill a few days ago and i tried to wave and say hi (you know, the mazda spirit) but he didnt want any part of it, and didnt even acknowledge the history of my car and the impact it has on his. maybe he just didnt see me waving (but i know he saw my taillights after i took off on green )

i also saw a red rx8 (its my friends dad, but i dont formally know him) at the gas station in severna park. i pulled up behind him and pumped my gas, and just glanced over and smiled (i didnt wanna run up to him and wierd him out, so i thought id let him see the mazda symbol himself). he must have stared at my car for a good 30 seconds, then got in his car and drove away. that bumbed me out.

maybe im just weird, but i get really excited when i see another RX and try and grab their attention. you know... THE ROTARY SPIRIT!! and it just seems to me that SOME 8 owners have kinda lost that.

 

it takes time for first time rotary owners to 'get it', sp don't get too hang up about it, you'll eventually run into an old timer rotary guy that has an 8

 

That is kinda odd...
In Virginia Beach / Hampton Roads area. The 7's & 8's get along quite well. Many 7's show up to our 8 meetings.
I also have heard very much the opposite from other regions of the country that 7 owners usual act elitish over the 8's. More HP / Less Weight / Turbo etc...
I buy into the whole Rotary Brotherhood deal myself. I do find that some 7 Gen owners don't seem to know or care what they have... It is just a beater that goes fast kinda attitude. Ya flash em, honk, thumb or wave and they look at ya like who the hell are you or what's yer problem man?!?!?!
I am betting that most people either are not "Into" the Rotary like we are or are just to shy, embarrassed or don't want to get shut down and that is why you are feeling the cold shoulder.

 

yeah i definately agree with that! theres a 7 around here that some old lady drives and i always try and grab her attention but she just gives me the look of death everytime.

theres always those sort of people with cars. theres rich people in my town (severna park, md) that have ferraris and still dont know what they have. i guess you cant blame them though, they are doing all the car was meant to do... drive.

there IS a few 8's around here that give a smile and 'the mazda wave' back when i pass by, but just lately i ran into those two 8's, which kinda shocked me. even miata owners are into the mazda spirit!

 

Saw a silver 8 parked on the street behind Holmesburg Shopping Center in Philly. Don't know if one of my neighbors just bought an 8 or if someone was just visiting.

Is the 7 white around your area? I know an old lady that travels up this way to teach.. she has a white 7 with an M-Tag on it.. so i take it she travels alot but i dont know where she stays.. there is another white vert 7 owner an old guy with glasses that drive up 95 N near whitemarsh area.. i tried to stay next to him and wave.. and he just ignored me.. A few 8 owners wave more than the 7 owners around my way or even on 695.. I'll be travelin down to DC this sat.. so i'll expect to see one of yall on the streets.. i have a decal on the front hood.. now.. and back rims are different from front.. :-D

 

I saw a black or Shinka 8 in Fairless Hills, PA on Trenton Road. Anybody here? No need to notice me, I was in my Neon beater. HI!

all the 8 owner's i see don't acknowledge me at all. the FD owner's all give me a smile and nod. i don't wave, but i'll also give you a nod...maybe even point 'n shoot with the index finger i think we should start having a meet in feb.

 

was out at shellhammer's off of 273 last night, saw a silver 8, dark tint all the way around and a puerto rican flag in the back window. didnt have a chance to meet you. are you on here?

Saw a blue 8 in Milton backing down my street after failing to get up the hill in the snow this morning. Gotta get snow tires if you're going to drive your 8 in the winter.

 

What color is your 8? I've seen a blue one in the area most often around Pleasant Valley whenever I'm out there, but I haven't passed an 8 in daylight since I got my car 2 months ago. Not 6 days after I got my car, I passed by another white one in Fishkill on Route 52 at midnight. It was too dark for either of us to notice though I'm sure until the other passed by.

I have a Shinka which is Black Cherry at night it looks black. I havent seen a white one yet. But there is another kid in fishkill with a Shinka! Ive seen a yellow, blue and black so far thats it. Do you chill anywhere or do anything around the area with ur car? Im always tryin to find peoples to just cruise every once and awhile!

 

Maybe we could do a brunch run to a nice diner or something. I'm busy the next couple of weekends getting ready for my sister's baby shower. Sometime after the 4th of Feb sounds good. Maybe the weather will be a little better by then too. I got caught in that thunderstorm last night, and couldn't tell if it was just rain coming down or a mix! Great lightning show.
