I hate it when no one posts answers to a question so let me help you out as best as I can...
If your flat is just a nail, inflate it with the compressor that came with the car, and nurse it to the closest Mobil, Getty, or Strauss that has a garage (Strauss is open till 11pm) and have them plug it. If you don't plan on racing your tires and going through crazy heat cycling just plug the thing for $12 and you will be fine. BTW you can also buy DIY plugs - I carry them in my trunk just in case I pick up a nail late at night or someplace scary...
If your side wall is ripped or if the hole can't be plugged, look for a used tire to replace it. If your car has got high miles on the tires you may want to replace all of them with new tires. Cheap but good? Hankook Ventus takes the cake in my opinion, but opions will abound everywhere.
It's about to snow, so you should be thinking about winter tires too, so keep that in mind for your budget.
