Last Friday I got pulled over on the I495 by a Nassau Patrol, he issue me 4 summons, 1. Doing 80 on a 55, 2. Dark tinted windows, which is bullshit because I told the shop where i had them done to put legal tints 35% cuz ididnt wanna be pulled over for it. According to the dick cop they were too dark, 3. For my loud exhaust, I have the AP with midpipe, i have it on for 4 months now n no other cop pulled me over for it, and 4. For ''Operating without insurance" FUCKNG BULLSHIT!!!! because I HAVE INSURANCE and Its active, i just handed the cop an expired insurance card BUT nonetheless I HAVE INSURANCE, I've been pulled over before and always gave the cop the same insurance card and never got summon for having an expired card. Nassau patrols r ********! Now, he told me i could justified 3 of the summons i got, the loud exhaust, insurance card and tinted windows. I have to put the stock exhaust back on and get a letter from the shop stating i have the stock back on so i can show the judge, as well as the tinted windows, get them to legal tints or removed them, and get a letter. and print a new insurance card to show i have insurance. So much **** to fix, but i dont wanna remove my exhaust. what to do? any one had similar issues?

You might be able to get the speed one lowered. As for the tint 35% is not NY legal. You must be 70% or more, not sure where you got your sources on that. For the exhaust put the stock one back on and mention so in court and for insurance just show them the new insurance card.

They are nasty on the LIE. They'll stop you for anything, but they aren't bad guys if you aren't a dick with them. (Not saying that you were!)

The two times I got pulled over last year were both on the LIE. One was for turning into an HOV lane late, which was true, but he let me go.

Second time was more lol -- I was doing 55 on a 30 ramp/sidestreet, and slowed down to 30 while he was behind me so I wouldn't get a speeding ticket. He stopped me and asked why I slowed down when I saw him. I explained the 30MPH sign and he laughed and walked away. lol

They can't tell you to put the stock exhaust back on. WTF! I think what the officer means is you are breaking the law by having no cat. Simply leave your aftermarket exhaust and put the factory mid pipe (with cat) back on the car. As for the tint the receipt should state what % tint they used. At least I know mine did. If it doesn't go back to the shop that did it and have them print a new receipt stating that they used 35%. Tint on the driver and passanger side windows is illegal in NJ. So I only have the back and two rear door windows tinted.

Again, 70% is the lowest legal limit you can go to in NY, where the OP is from and got the ticket. Stating it's 35% will be like shooting yourself in the foot.

The thing that is messed up is that some cars come with a darker colored glass from factory, and adding legal tint to them will still make them illegal. I wanted to go 50% all around on my car, but the cops here love guys with tints.

That's why you have to compensate for the factory and ask the installer to make sure the overall tint when done does not go below what you want whether illegal or not. The 8 goes with factory tint as well, there are threads on this. My state allows 35%, likely I'll go for 45% to be within limits on the front side windows and go darker on the rear. There are somethings worthwhile doing outside the limits, such as a midpipe with the crappy CAT in our cars that cause issues since until you switch it back in for emissions testing and it's not too loud, you won't get pulled over for it. Tint is obvious to pick out so depends how on how much you want to push your luck.

You were ticketed for 4 violations, all of which were correct and the cop explained which would be waived and how to go about it. So, um, why is he an *******?

You chose to equip and operate your vehicle under these conditions. Please stop blaming the cop who pulls you over for citing you.

Fix the **** you can to reduce what you have to pay. And for ****'s sake, carry an accurate, current insurance card. It's not that hard.

I'm calling shenanigans on your bullshit "i told the shop to put legal tint on" excuse. You knew well and good what kind of tint you were getting.

Secondly, you're driving 80... did you really think there was no chance of getting caught speeding?

Thirdly, you took out your cat. I'm pretty sure you came across a few threads, or the place where you bought it that said "for off road use only, not legal on road vehicles." Yes a midpipe sounds nice, but don't whine like a little girl when you get hit for it. I have a midpipe on my car and they day i get a ticket for it i'll simply thank the officer and go about my business.

Lastly, put the new god-damned insurance card in your god damned wallet. Is the little tiny piece of paper too heavy for you to lift?
