Good-bye, sweet Midnight

Today we said good-bye to a beloved family member, our 16-yr-old cat Midnight. During surgery today, the surgeon came out and delivered the bad news, that he was full of tumors, and that if he came home he would continue to not eat and his back legs would continue to collapse. We decided that, after the many wonderful years he had given us, it would be selfish and cruel to bring him home to that life, so we told her "Let him sleep", and we let him go.

Rest in peace, beautiful boy! See you on the other side!

YO I FEEL your pain kid. My cat died sept 15, 2005 and i still misss her. didint have a chance to say goodbye cuz i wasnt living at home and found out later.

Then my dog died of a tumor in the mouth , which i didnt know about until months later (Thanks MOM!)

Its hard to beleive how attached you get to these animals when you grow up with them ,you consider them family.

Keep ya head up kid, ya still got ure memories!

It's been a week and we're still hurting, but the pain gets less every day. Monday was the first day I got through without crying. One night I went to give him his nightly pill when it hit me that he wasn't there to give it to. I lost it! I am amazed at how deeply this hurt! Like a lot of things in life, I think this is one of those things that you really don't understand until you go through it. I know I've thought people made too much out of the loss of a pet, but now I understand it really is a big thing! Midnight WAS part of the family. He was older than my youngest son, which puts it in perpective for me. We still have his bowl and his favorite toy, the only one he still played with when he got older - a hamster with a pull-tab that made it vibrate in a circle on the floor.

thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and your understanding. You guys are awesome!

Sorry for your loss, and although a very tough thing to do, you and your family made the right decision....God Bless you all in this time.

yeah i never knew why owners were so attached to there pet. I guess i was naive in thinking my cat will live to a very old age and die on natural causes. But she got taken away from me and it hurt like hell. So yeah man i feel ure pain

We are definitley pet lovers (my wife and I) and send you condolences. We have a 16 year old pug dog and he is deaf, mostly blind, back legs dont work so well anymore but the vet says he is in generally good health (heart, liver lungs etc...). He is our only "child" and everyday he is still around is a bonus...
