Getting my 8, and have questions (NY please help expecially!)

Ive wanted this car for a nice long time, and I am finally going to buy one hopefully this Sunday, a auto with the sports package or the touring package (Im turning 17 on Jan 28th) and I wanted to get a few questions answered.

Ive been following this board for a long time, and Ive read about the RX-8's performance in the snow, and how you need to have snow tires to be able to drive in it (well), I was hoping a few people from the East Coast could help me out and chime in on the topic, and if there is any place (Long Island local) that I could get the tires (if you could please suggest a few) at a nice price? How much should they run?

Next question is where is the best place to go for my audio needs, price and installation wise, for my 8.. Since im probably getting the sport package, and no one has really reported on it, can someone chime in with the +/- of the basic stero, and what should and does need to be done to it and how much it should run me.

I am new to this whole thing, I got a pretty nice deal on the car, I got it for 300 over the invoice (the one with the sports package) and dont want to be taken on the rest of the car accessories and equipment. I would really appreciate any help I can get.

jniamehr,

As far as getting a good deal for a set of snow tires, you can try either Costco or www.tirerack.com. Both have great price and great service.

As for the audio, it depends on whether you're an audiophile or not. To me, the OEM setup is good enough.

Cheers,
Pete

I'll stick to Tirerack or Costco for tires as they offer the best value in my experience.

Any suggestions on tires?

Im either getting the Sport Package or the Grand Touring Package, do they have different tire sizes etc?

Also a suggestion to all who are negotiating car prices like I am, make sure no matter what to make an agreement (written) that they will change your tires free of charge... I know Great Neck Mazda agreed to do that with me...

Winter Wheels

I am selling a set of winter wheels and tires on ebay. They are 17"x7" FRD 6 wheels and 225/50-17 Toyo Garit HT tires. There has been many reviews of this tire and how its great in the snow. Check this thread for performance details:

May I ask is there a reason you are selling them?

I found a set of 18"s that I can get from a friend... but i had already bought this set.

Thus, I am selling it at a loss just to get rid of it. I am willing to lose a little $$ to get 18" wheels. The set I am selling is NEW and still in the original packaging. It comes with all the lug nuts also.
