Eastern Ohio/Western Pennsylvania meet up...

I am trying to find owners in the eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania area that are interested in a meet up and ultimately doing a few group drives. I have no problem organizing it all because I have done it many times before when I had my S2000. Just reply to the thread if you are interested and let me know where you live so we can get an idea where everyone would be coming from for the initial meet up. We will go from there.

Jon316G 04-11-2010 06:37 PM

I'll post something in our local group (NE Ohio).

b'Eight' 04-11-2010 06:48 PM

I'm in Butler, PA....If you don't mind a 40 year old showing up at your meet, I'll come.

DeViLbOi 04-11-2010 06:56 PM

Sure...Im down...

Jon316G 04-11-2010 06:59 PM

Maybe we should get a list going:

1) R3_Fury
2) Jon316G
3) b'Eight'
4) DeViLbOi

Vyndictive 04-12-2010 09:53 AM

I'm interested, but just a reminder, sundays are autocross days. :ylsuper:

I know the user syntheticdarkness is in western PA... i'm sure he'd come.

Gopherage 04-12-2010 05:40 PM

It would be cool to do so i'm interested. Just make sure to give us enough warning when an actual date is set.

syntheticdarkness 04-12-2010 06:13 PM

I'll do it. I'll also see if I can get the other 3 8's I know around here to go with me if I can. Hey vyn doors are on, can't really tell that they are different colors until the sun hits them lol. I think I will still have the longest drive to a meet lol.

1) R3_Fury
2) Jon316G
3) b'Eight'
4) DeViLbOi
5) syntheticdarkness

R3_Fury 04-13-2010 09:38 AM

great thanks for the response...how many people do you guys want to wait for before we set a date for the meet up?? also, the initial meet up will be in the Youngstown area since this is also where the future drives will start from....there are two main places where other car/bike groups meet around here; one is the Quaker S&L in Austintown, OH; the other is the Chilli's at the Southern Park mall lot....are any of you familiar with either of those and have a preference......I would like to do the initial meet up some time in the next few weeks, for now let's keep compiling the list

I don't care if you are 80...all are welcome that are open minded and have a passion for driving

Where abouts in Youngstown are you? I see an 8 or two every once in a while around...

Also, I'd be interested in a cruise, provided it's not on a day I have an autocross ;)

R3_Fury 04-18-2010 06:26 PM

ok....haven't had any new takers lately, so let's compile the final list of who would definitely like to come....please reply and indicate what night of the week would be best for you and we will try to compromise on the best all around night....

DeViLbOi 04-18-2010 06:29 PM

Sunday's are best for me but the next couple are out with a charity event and Midwest Mazdafest. After that i'm good.

Jon316G 04-18-2010 08:48 PM

I work Mon, Tue, and Wed nights... so any other night is fine with me.
Maybe we should make this after May so its good weather.
It was actually snowing in some parts of Ohio this weekend and its still cold now!

Gopherage 04-19-2010 12:56 AM

I work Tuesday through Saturday afternoons through nights. (Stupid restaurant job) You can put me on the list if the final date to meet up fits that schedule.

megz 04-19-2010 09:58 AM

I'd be interested in going, but would probably just tag along in Tiresmoker's car, as usual :)

Again, sunday's are almost all out due to autocross. Jon may be right, May would probably be best as it's been a bit cold still.

Vyndictive 04-19-2010 10:00 AM

Friday or saturday would be best for me. Maybe like May 14th or 15th?

No offense but I feel you are going about this the wrong way and I feel this is why you haven't had any "new takers". I have set up many cruises and g2g's over the years and ideally people would like to know what’s on the plate before committing to anything. Arbitrarily stating "go for a cruise" without giving at least an idea of where this cruise is going to take place will leave people uninterested. Like for instance, I am not going to just come out and hang out in the parking lot of at Southern Park mall or the shops along 224. And I can attest to the fact there isn't a single decent route in the Youngstown area to even think about making a cruise set up for. So under those assumptions I'm already out and not interested.

Now, if you are proposing a meet at Quaker for people to hang out, that is a different story. If you are just looking for a location to meet up at then go take a cruise that is a different story. Meeting up before the cruise is the last thing to worry about though. You should first establish where this cruise is going to take place, stops along the way for food or entertainment, then the meeting spot for everyone to gather at before the cruise begins.

Also, is this just a "lets roll around the main streets with stoplights and be all cool and shit" type cruise, or are you talking about a "spirited drive" through twisty back roads. Because once again, I highly doubt people want to drive up and down 224 like a bunch of ricers.

Are you looking for just a group of people that want to get together and hang out like once a week and grab food and shoot the shit, or do you want for everyone to stand around our cars in a parking lot for hours on end just talking?

Your idea has merit, but lacks substance. Figure out what you want to do and where it is going to take place first, and then build the rest of details around that. I'll put money on the fact that if you actually had a set plan in mind more people would show interest. As of right now it's just a pipe dream with very little details.

b'Eight' 04-19-2010 12:00 PM

Quaker Steak & Lube sounds good....In Sharon, PA we are talking about, right? There is also Buhl Park. Also, I'm interested in any simple install type ideas. I've got a Pea Pump. I could show how it is used. I like stupid informational type shit too from enthusiasts. I don't have a Cobb AP but I'd like to see one and how it works.

PM me to keep me in the loop. I'm not subscribed to this thread. And for me, it has to be a Saturday or Sunday.

whoa buddy!!! slow down...if you read my original post, this is just a meet up....NO cruise...this is just to see who are the locals and who would be interested in FUTURE drives....you assumed way too much....

syntheticdarkness 04-19-2010 09:16 PM

I'm good for saturday or sunday's, and love the lube idea.

Vyndictive 04-20-2010 06:04 AM

So... May 15th?

DeViLbOi 04-20-2010 07:28 AM

Out...werk

Oh... just take a vacation ;)

DeViLbOi 04-20-2010 07:41 AM

Took May 1st off for Mazdafest...finding more coverage that soon will be an issue.

Vyndictive 04-20-2010 10:59 AM

Quaker isn't that great and its expensive... lets go to a local style place, not a chain.

And. . . I'm confused. . . who is putting this on? Is there going to be a cruise or not? Car Show? Prizes? . . . I'm confused.

Anyone need any OEM Parts? :cwm27:

That would be perfect for me. I'm just not a big Quaker steak fan. Don't call me a douche.

DeViLbOi 04-20-2010 12:50 PM

Just don't make the Mexican place like the one from Friday...UCK

Vyndictive 04-20-2010 01:07 PM

$8 margaritas = yuck

megz 04-20-2010 01:56 PM

$8 margaritas and cat food = yuck. This other place is really good though. :)

DeViLbOi 04-20-2010 05:09 PM

Jamie said that about the place on Friday...

Vyndictive 04-20-2010 05:43 PM

I'd be more inclined to believe meg and C_smoker...

wheellee 04-20-2010 06:02 PM

i might be able to come. just depends if i have any money left from my florida vacation im taking next week. leaving on the 29th and be back on the 9th. im driving the 8 there and planning on going through deals gap on my way back.

syntheticdarkness 04-27-2010 08:21 PM

So what's going on. We can pick a different place to eat each month, doesn't have to be the same everytime, and then talk, cruise etc....

Jon316G 04-27-2010 11:00 PM

I'll be up for a meet if there is still interest.
R3_Fury doesn't appear to be interested in planning a meet anymore, maybe c_smoker will (sorry Brian... that is going to stick for awhile) :lol2:

tiresmoker 04-28-2010 06:59 AM

Thanks Jon, I really feel the love :lol2:

Synthetic, I definitely think we should change up the location each month so we don't get tired of eating/meeting at the same place. I'm open for suggestions for places to meet over in PA as I don't know that area well enough to make a claim as to what is good and what is not.

I know it was suggested that we meet up on the 15th, and if you guys still want to run with that, that is fine. Only downside (for me anyway) is that I can't make it as I have a 2 day autocross out in Toledo that weekend. This will probably make R3_Fury happy. :cwm27:

LOL... I would expect the same from you if it were the other way around :)

syntheticdarkness 04-29-2010 10:33 PM

I agree, eating at the same place over and over would get pretty tiresome, and right now at the meets we go to each state/person gets to pick a place/time each month. If it goes in PA, there is a shoguns Hibachi Restaurant around monroeville which I heard is supposed to be good, but don't know. Maybe b-eight would know since he lives around there. If it ever comes over by me, the beer would be on me after we eat, and cruise.

Beers then cruise?? Sign me up! :all_cohol

BoardSnow6 04-30-2010 09:36 AM

Maybe in. I live in Clarion PA... Where is this cruise located at again?

BoardSnow6 05-02-2010 08:24 PM

What about a cruise through the alleghany nat. forest/ cooks forest?

syntheticdarkness 05-02-2010 10:05 PM

We need to get back on track so we can meet up. Maybe clean the thread a little, since people that would wanna meet might not seeing that a fight is going on.

Exactly. This thread is going no where. Everyone stop bitching at eachother and lets get a meet together. Either clean this shit up or someone needs to start a new thread. Id love to get a meet togther. Whose down for a cruise on either the 22nd or 23rd through the forest or through Benezette? There are few lookouts over a valle that would be great for a photo op and if were lucky we might even get some elk in the picture...

syntheticdarkness 05-02-2010 10:26 PM

We could do that as a local meet with the few 8's around here, unless everyone else wants to do it, or when it's our time to pick. First thing first, we need to get everything back on track.

Elara 05-03-2010 07:56 AM

Cleaned it up- I think people are reading too much into posts and that's what's setting people off. Hope you guys get this figured out and have a great meet-up- sounds like it could be fun.

R3_Fury 05-23-2010 10:52 AM

so to recapture my thread....i will once again try to arrange a so called "event".....this time I will be very specific for the mentally challenged...this will NOT be a meet-up or cruise...it will be a "drive" on public roads open to anyone who happens to be there, SO only a very loose agenda will be in play....I do this super drive twice a year and am simply asking if anyone wants to come along....I will set a date, time, and meeting place....the drive is about 250-300 miles round trip and ends in Marietta, OH...routes taken are 164,9,148, and 26....all are in south eastern OH.....this will be a full day trip taking around a total of 8 hours.....4-5 hours of which are the actual drive, the rest is the jouney home....when i do the drive i only do it going south, i then take the interstate home.....you obviously can take any way home your heart, map, or GPS desires......................SO, if you'd like to take one hell of a drive, let me know and I will compile a list and set a date.......IF you want your hand held and told when to eat, drink, sleep, etc. then I'm sure someone else can schedule something for you

Chill dude. Were all family here. No need for name calling.

Jon316G 05-23-2010 10:04 PM

I agree with BoardSnow6... talking like that will discourage others (including myself) from wanting to participate in any meets.

megz 05-24-2010 07:42 AM

Agreed ^^, I'm not interested in the "drive" if the attitude is going to be as poor as your post was, R3.

How was the meet Saturday? I really wish I could've gone, but getting ready for the reception and yesterdays' race turned out to be more time consuming than earlier planned. As John stated, Sunday's are majority out for the 3-4 us from the akron/cleveland area because of Auto-x but we'll see when dates get planned, thanks for planning stuff out Synthetic

R3_Fury 05-24-2010 05:19 PM

Honestly, how can i not have a bit of an attitude in this thread??!!....look at the original post...it was chill, informal, and not specific ON PURPOSE...it was a feeler to see who is out there....then i get roasted like Flava Flav for no apparent reason other than one individual felt i was too vague....well excuse me for writing my own thread....anyhow, my last post was more specific and with an attitude ON PURPOSE....i am not looking to meet limp-wristed P.C. people...if there is just one guy on this board that has a passion for cars and angry driving like I do, then that is who I hope to find.....
