Hello all, I've been a lurker for a while. I've held of on my purchase of an rx8 till I get the usual fiasco out of the way and to see what Mazda has up their sleeve at the Tokyo motor show. So, if all goes well I'll be searching+buying an 8 early December. I'm from Astoria btw.

Now, the thing is this 8 will be used in and around NYC.

How many NYC 8 owners are out there and can share how they maintain their 8 on our crappy streets. I feel bad parking such a beautiful car on the street when I'd have to go anywhere and for a bit after I purchase the car I will not have off-street parking for the 8. My daily commute will involve the grand central/van wyck out to JFK, I work there.

I've held of for nearly a year now on investing due to many reasons, mostly the obvious, but it still bothers me when I feel I am going to be subjecting the car to the city that never sleeps - and it will take a beating. Be it weather, potholes, vandalism, thieves, etc.

i will start working full time next year after i grad from college. Want to see what the new 08 rx8 looks like, and im praying they put the new 1.6 L rotary in there =)

So hopefully i will have a rx-8 by mid next year =)

Currently i have a 87 gxl (88SE, 89GTU were also in my roster)

I bought my 8 on Oct. 1 and I live in the Bronx. I park mine on the street and there's been no problem. I take the train most weekdays and leave my 8 parked. Tickets, scratches and other nonsense that accompanies city driving are avoided that way. Get your 8!

 

too bad it wont stop vandalism and theft! depending on your location id take the necessary precautions. (lots of "seen" security) my friend lives in elmont right next to queens but he puts wheel locks on and has the red blinking light on his steering wheel(along with the viper security) on his jdm type r. id do the same if i lived there, since mine is lightly modded.
