I guess I should wear my Teamnuegen T-shirt. Is the rest of the group coming to the event?
Columbia mall is along route 29 in Columbia. I guess from G-burg you come down 15 to Fred-neck and head east to B-more. 29 is a south exit near Ellicott City

well, we fail as a forum this year.
last year was pretty cool with like 10 cars or so. but if we cant even get 3 cars together im not going to the mall.
i live next to college park so i'd only drive out there for you guys. 1 guy showing up is not enough.

Well, For the most part anyone who didn't go didn't miss anything. No organization, the Campus rent-a-cops were asses, fairly boring.
The flyer said no-one before 12 noon. So, I got there about 1:30. By that time, they had closed off parking any closer than the opposite side of the arena. Well that sucked, but hey I figured it was just because it was going to be so good. So, I made the best of it and parked by a bunch of nice looking non-Mazda tuners. (Another nice looking VR apparently parked next to me later on. Are you on the board?) So, I walked in. To my dismay, the supposed show area was only about 1/2 full! Of those, there was some cool cars. 2 Lambos, a couple of bikes with really nice paint jobs, etc. However, mom and pop's suvs and junkers were also there equally. (Maybe, when you expect 5000 cars you might actually have a registration and separate spectators from tuners.) I had my can good (this was suppose to be a charity food drive event). However, there was no one to give it to. Was there any staff? I never saw any. Anyway, I saw some guys just chuck their can into the woods rather than carry them around. Nice. I and a couple other people left them near a sidewalk hoping someone might actually get them. (Any hungry college students on campus should check those woods.) So, my daughter and I walked around a bit, got bored (and hot as hell) and decided to leave.
Other weird things. They had a raffle drawing, but I never actually saw anyone selling tickets. No signs for much of anything. I never did see where they were doing the dyno. Last year it was front and center. Hell, the best cars I saw were outside the event area.
Maybe when you have a 7 hour, 15,000+ person event, you actually have something fun to do. Some bands playing music? maybe a climbing wall or something? Have more than, what, 5 shops showing their wares. More than 1 food vendor with a line 50 yards long. With all the ethnic groups that attend this event they couldn't have anything better to eat than mom and pop with a hamburger grill? Maybe the military showing off some cool toys? Maybe invite a local car dealer or 2 with the lastest model? I'm sure they would like the exposure after the recession. Yeah, that costs money, but why not have a $5 or $10 a head entrance fee and do it right.
The one bright spot, I chatted briefly a nice couple with a bright blue 8.
If anyone stayed later, did it get any better?
