I'm going to be testing a new steam clean setup that I think might work a bit better, and I'll probably bring it with me to the meet. If anyone wants to partake in that, bring a gallon of distilled water with you. I highly recommend an oil change right after so keep that in mind.

lol. blue i removed all the insulation in my engine bay which made it easier to clean up under the hood

Blue, this is the concept, though in this video I was testing windshield washer fluid for effectiveness:
Washer fluid is not a good option. And yes, it's safe. Windshield washer fluid is water + methanol, and is what turbo guys often use for injection.
I found that distilled water is very very effective, and it's also really cheap.

I don't think distilled water will harm the cat, riwwp could answer that better tho
