Hey I know I kinda disappeared for the last 18 months or so...

Life kinda got in the way. Oh and 2008 was a banner year for my 8. New engine club here! Now about $11K in warranty repairs.

I am interested in putting something together for 09'.

I don't know when or where but I was just reading through the NE Forum and saw that a potential run last year didn't go anywhere.

That sucks. Hopefully all of you were able to get some driving in even with the near $4.50/gallon prices.

I am certainly open to suggestions and then I can organize from there. I can also try to get some more trinkets from Mazda again.

Figured if we start early we can really get this into good shape.

Hopefully there are some of you out there that still wanna get down with driving...

Thought you just sold the car and moved on. Nice to see that didnt happen. Well your not alone in the "New Engine Club", Astral (before he sold his 8) got a new motor and so did I recently.

Be nice if a run was put together and I can somehow convince the gf to come along if I promise to let her drive for a few legs.

 

Yes I am alive! I have not purchased my M5 yet. I bought a house instead and have spent ALL of my free time doing upgrades and spending ridiculous amounts of money on it instead of my car. Something about investing in my future instead of a pile of steel.

I def want to get something together and will help organize to make sure it happens.

Unfortunately no Rolex GT at Lime Rock this year!

How about a Dragon Run?

 

There was a New York run 2 years ago that started and ended on NH. It was 2 days with a layover in Lake Placid. It was a great run and everyone loved it. it just never caught steam this year.

Knoi will be at lime rock this year though. should make for some good racing.

That was me who organized the NY run.

I had a blast, but life got in the way and I disappeared for a while.

I am back in action and would like to organize another. Looking for ideas and time frames...

 

i'd love a run up to the cape. it probably wouldn't have the same roads as we had in NY but would be a good time and good scenary. might be hard to get hotels though.

 

The only thing I struggle with in regards to the cape is that its the same road out and back... no real way to get a good loop out of it. Unless I am mistaken?

 

There was a Vermont run a few years age (maybe 4 years) that the Miata club put on. It had some really great mountain roads. I think it went the Green mountain National Forest. Not sure if anyone was on that one or not. it was an overnight event so we could get an early start in the morning.

Yep I was there for the Vermont run too.

 

Cape Runs are a nice day trip, but nothing beats those NH & upstate NY mountain roads. I'm definitely interested in something along the lines of the 07 Spring Run.


Just make sure you put it together on a weekend that isn't raining!

 

If Dennis is going I have no excuse to go I fear lmfao.
Other than fear of the gf killing me, then again that isnt new now isnt it. I forget what Interstate it was up in VT (or was it NH?) but it was looong.. and definatly curvy. I was doing 90mph on curves on the inside lane while those on the outside **** their pants hehe. God I miss that drive up to visit my friend.

Oh and also as long as this doesnt overlap with a certain event I'll be putting together again come April we are golden!

Side note.. send a PM to Josh (Altspace) he might be able to get some NEPOC peeps interested.

I hear you loud and clear DRKSYDE. My story reads the same way except I traded in my 04 for a great deal on an 07 after a dealership oil change went bad - way bad.

I've had a completely new suspension for my 94FD sitting in boxes in my garage for over a year now. I just keep moving the boxes to work on house projects.

BTW - I'm the guy who hosted everyone for lunch in the pouring rain of the 07 run.

Anyway, I might be up for a run in 09. I'll try to check in more often to see how it progresses. I swear I have not checked the forum more than a half dozen times in 2008.

Glad to see you are back again. Yes, I am planning another Cape Cod Spring Run again. Last one was a blast with over 40 Mazdas. This one will be much different and I plan to contact Mazda again for some shwag.

I've also been in touch with the people who organize the Lime Rock event and this time it will be bigger and better than before. As mentioned, no Rolex series, but we'll still have all the other racing and much more for the 4 days.

 

Well I am in support of anything peeps come up with. I certainly don't mind helping out with the organizational side of things.

Haven't convinced the GF to allow the spending on a Pettit SC but we shall see. Someday!

I am having Synaptic3 put in a new clutch and ACT prolite flywheel in this winter so that will be fun. Might also put my catless midpipe on the car too. Have been worried that its going to cause warranty/inspection issues but... I wanna I wanna!

 

Oh yeah...

with a bigger garage at my house in the works I will be giving her a face lift of some sort next winter.

Haven't decided the new scheme yet but you gots to know it will be hawt comin from me.

 

Just a suggestion but the finger lakes in NY are realy nice area for a drive and lots of camping for tents and cabin rentals. just a thought

Very true! Thats actually the area that the 07' was held. Very nice driving. We overnighted in Lake Placid.

I know you guys ar looking to set sumthing up for the spring time. There is a run starting on a thurs night at midnight leaving from Hartford CT and we are goin to the tail of the dragon for the weekend. anybody intrested in doing that?
