Since we've got a few members showing interest in a Boston meet and per their suggestions, I'm starting this new thread.

LOCATION: Castle Island, South Boston
DATE: TBD -- Please pick one of these dates: July 14 (Sat), July 15 (Sun), July 21 (Sat), July 22 (Sun), July 28 (Sat), or July 29 (Sun)
TIME: TBD -- 2:00 p.m. until...whenever?

I go there to rollerblade pretty often. So, bring your rollerblades, bike, skateboard, etc. if you want a little exercise as well.

Bring some snacks or you can buy 'em here. They got ice cream, etc., but it can be a little pricey.

Last but not least, this meet is open to not only Mass members, but also members from NH, RI, or CT, too. If you don't mind the drive to Boston, please come join us! The more the merrier.

 

I'm down with a Boston meet. Any of those dates work for me but a sunday would be slightly preferred. Never heard of castle island...sounds nice, good looking location for a meet. Hopefully more will join!

 

I'll mention this to my gf but since I got a new job which has a rotating schedule its hard to know what day I'll have off till the following week (possibly). But I'll be checking on here regularly to see what date is or will be set.

Castle Island is a nice place to relax and meet people. I forget if they allow cooking on a grill or not but if they do that would be a awsome lil thing to get going a mini-cookout hehe.

 

Hell yeah, you cant do anything any sooner bassy? Another thing, the parking lot is usually pretty packed on the weekends, haven't been in a while, what do you think?

 

Patience is a virtue, my friend. Seriously, I'd love to see this happen ASAP (in June). But I think we should give other people enough notice so that they can plan their schedules, etc. Plus, those (Boston/Mass) members who may not check this board frequently enough will not miss it because of the short notice.

I think you're correct that the parking lot can be crowded on weekends. I can scope it out and see when the best time to meet is. I'm thinking we may have to move the time up a bit--say, 10 or 11 a.m.

To Clavius's question, I don't think cooking is allowed there. I can find out and let everyone know.

To make this a little easier, could I please ask everyone to post your preferred date and time? Of course, the majority always rules and we'll just go with whatever the majority chooses.

Good point, definatlely check out the parking situation if you can. I remember having trouble just finding one parking spot. And traffic backed up a pretty long way. It is a dead end after all.
Id prefer 7/15 sun. Not sure about the time, it could be packed in the morning too. Ill prob scope it out too sometime and let you guys know.

 

I might be available for a quick meetup. I've met most of the guys from MA so it would be cool to hang out with the newer members.

 

All of those dates are pretty bad for me, but my best shot of making it would be Sun July 29th or the first weekend in Aug. Should have all the goodies in the car by then so hopefully I can make it!

 

July 22, 29 I'm out. All I know for now.

 

I'll do my best to see if I can make it once the date is decided on! We might just stop by for a bit depending on how things go the next few weeks. I'd love to make it to another meet, I've only been to 1 so far.

The weekend of the 14th is bad for me as I have another meet in NJ for one of my old owners clubs.

 

Interested. Sunday is better for me, but Satuday can work too. I'll check into the ole schedule and check back.

Looks like the majority of you guys prefer a Sunday meet. How about Sun 07/22 as the official meet date and Sun 07/29 as a backup/rain date? I know that it seems so far out, but it's just five weeks. Hopefully, it'll give RPIRX-8 (and maybe other folks, too) enough time to put all the goodies on their rides before the meet.

Well, I'll hope for the rain date as I definitely can't make it on 7/22 (will be in Seattle). Its ok though because a month after this meet is the Northeast Exotic Car Show in Merrimack, NH so we can all get together again!

7/29 is a car show in Fairhaven. Entered last year with my P5 and other NEPOC members.

 

another great location to have a meet at would be salem willows, located you guessed it in salem, lots of parking, you can grill there, huge arcade and places to by food, use to go there to hang out and play initial D and air hockey, you can bring dogs to if you have any..

Can someone give me an idea how to find this place? What I found trying to follow the instructions was near the Harvard campus -- is this correct? I will be coming from Southern Maine. Any of the dates would be fine.
