STL 8 owners meet

I just got my 8 today and am so excited, I would like to try to organize a time when all the 8 owners in the STL area can meet up. Sometime late May is when I am thinking about getting it together, but am not set on a date. Chime in if you want to do it, have ideas on places to meet, and so forth.

I'd be up for a STL owners meet. We could meet at the St Louis Mills since their parking lots are so open now that the "newness" of the mall has died off and it's not the buying season.

I would like to go to the Rotary Revolution, but I don't think that I will be able to this year. Maybe next year.

If you don't go to the Revolution, then you're not allowed in the STL club ... sorry, those are the rules. If you don't like it, go buy a 350Z.

Ouch. I guess I'm not in the club anymore cause I can't make it this year.

And now I have to go buy a 350z??? Aww man, I don't want to, they only have 2 seats and are heavy and etc, etc, etc.

Showing up to the best rotary event this side of the Rockies would be the more logical option ...

Believe me, I would love to. This year is just out of the question, that's why I'm hoping next year I can go. Only time will tell.

I'm up for a meet too!

Let's plan something for sometime in May....after the Revolution (which I am going to unlike some of you slugs:D).

Maybe we could plot out some good hilly curvy back roads to take a little drive on. Maybe a trip to the wineries in Augusta or something?

What about coming out for the April 18th cruise and learning a little history.

I'm already planning on showing up on the 18th......just don't know if I'll drive the RX-7 vert or the RX-8. If it is a good top-down day I may be showing up in the RX-7.

You guys get together @ all? I don't really see any updates to threads like this in the MW forum...

I'm moving to O'Fallon IL next month, & I'm hoping to find another RX club that has meeeting/events @ least a few times a month.

No really no get togethers yet. the last scca solo II event had 4 8s in one place, the most I've ever seen. We really need some one to organize around here.

One of you could go over to yahoo & start up a group like the one in my signature. This will help distribute notices about get togethers & also a place to post pics, polls, etc. I would start it, but I think that one of you that's been in the area a while would be better off...

I think the place to keep the chatter up about a local club is right here on this forum. That is one of the main reasons for having the regional forums.....to plan events and get to know all of the local owners in your area.

What are you guys/gals interested in doing for a "meet-up" event?

I have done many events with the local RX-7 club, and they have all been pretty fun no matter what we do. With summer upon us, I would like to revive that earlier idea I had of doing a winery trip some weekend down in Augusta. The roads down that way are a LOT of fun. Maybe go on a scenic drive down around there or around Washington. We did that once with the RX-7 club and then stopped at a few of the wineries on the way back. That way all of the "spirited" driving was done pre-wine buzz. It was a really good time.

We need to get together and do something. It is sad that I have had my car for almost a year now and have met only a couple of other owners on this forum.

If you guys are interested, I will pick a date, get this organized, and map out a route for the drive. Of course, I am open to any other ideas that anybody has.

I just found that it's much easier to keep up w/ a local club events w/ e-mails rather than through a forum like this (I think most large clubs operate this way). If there's a local RX7 club, why not just join up w/ them and call it a "RX" club???

I would be up for doing a drive or what ever, I just need to know the date and time. Sundays are better for me than any other weekend days.

It's simply a matter of using both tools effectively. For event announcements and similar alerts, an email list has shown to be much more effective in getting things to the established group of owners quickly and effectively.

For conversations about those events, planning, and other topics, it is much easier to keep straight what has been said, and to look back at what has been said on a forum (whether it is here, or on a local group's own forum like Rocky Mountain's).

And don't forget, for events, you want to get the word out to as many new people as possible. When you use the email list, you are only reaching established members, not any new or mildly interested members. When RX8 owners are searching the Internet, this will be the most likely place that they end up, and this is where you'll get the message to most people. And don't stop at just announcing here, but keep conversations about it here, so that you pique people's interest.

Events and get-togethers

Count me in. I'd enjoy a chance to get to know some other 8 owners, or just rotary owners... Besides, it's too much of a fun car, and just think how many looks a caravan of several 8's in a row going down a highway would get. ^_^ After all, one 8 is enough to pull looks... </sarcasm> Then again, maybe we shouldn't... if we keep people's attention on our cars long enough, they might crash or something. </sarcasm off>
